“Fuck the party!‘
Martin bowed apologetically to the bemused councillor and chased after Gideon.
‘You should have stayed with her!‘
‘I did.‘ Martin sounded contrite as he jogged alongside Gideon. ‘I just stepped away for a minute to get a smoke. She must have slipped past me.”
Gideon stopped at the staircase landing and scanned the crowd below.
No sign of Kira.
Then something occurred to him. ‘Where’s Gwen?‘
Martin slapped a palm to his forehead. ‘Right. I forgot about Miss Gwen. She wasn’t with me.‘
‘Find them both! But do it quietly.”
“Yes, Young Master.”
‘Martin.‘
‘Yes, Young Master?”
‘Once you find Kira, bring her to me. And…don’t let them see each other.‘
“Yes, Young Master.”
Gideon gripped the railing.
His eyes swept over the crowd of people milling about downstairs.
The place was huge.
There must be close to a hundred people at the party.
It was unlikely that Kira would run into Gwen.
Gideon hoped that was the case.
He couldn’t afford to let Kira know about Gwen’s existence.
If she saw a woman who looked so much like her, Kira was bound to have questions.
Then she would know what he did, and she would be disgusted.
Kai had to abandon his shrimp with Cajun seasoning when Boss summoned him.
He combed the entire first floor, even paid a waitress to look into the ladies‘ rooms, but couldn’t find Young Madam.
Boss searched the second floor.
Same result.
Kai scratched his head.
Where did Kira disappear to?
‘Boss, no sign of Young Madam.‘
Austyn nodded without breaking his stride. ‘I’ve asked Samson to check the hotel surveillance footage.‘
Samson’s company had a majority stake in the Grand Copthorne.
Kai chased after his boss.
Austyn halted when he saw Gideon outside the security command centre.
Stupid, Stupid!
Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!
Gideon had called him earlier in the day, asking if he was coming to the party.
Austyn knew Gideon was going to be at the hotel, but had not seen him till now.
Gideon looked just as surprised. ‘What are you doing here?”
‘I could ask you the same thing.‘ Austyn raised an eyebrow.
‘My plus–one and a friend of mine are both missing. I couldn’t find them. Thought I’d come here and check out the footage.”
“That’s strange.
‘Don’t tell me you’re here for the same reason?”
