Her lace was distorted with hatred. 

If her fans saw her now, they probably wouldn’t recognise her. 

Kayleigh pointed a finger at Kira’s nose. “Do you think Austyn married you because he loves you!! 

Her shrill laughter reverberated in the narrow hallway. 

‘Don’t be stupid! He only loves Deborah Connelly!! 

Deborah was the man’s first and only true love. 

Kayleigh wasn’t jealous of Deboral 

The woman was dead and therefore no threat to her. 

But Kira Hewitt was alive. 

Hewitt usurped the title of Mrs McCarthy. 

Kayleigh refused to accept that 

She had waited for Austyn for years. 

How dare Hewitt snatch him away!

“You’re nothing but a toy.” Kayleigh’s eyes glinted with malicious glee. “A plaything for Austyn. Once he gets bored of you, he’ll dump you in the blink of an eye. I can’t wait for the day that happens! You’re going to lose everything, just like me!” 

‘You’re wrong.‘ Kira shook her head. ‘Even if I lose everything, I’ll never be like you.! 

She had nothing to begin with. 

If Austyn dumped her one day, she’d just be right back where she started. 

Which was fine with her. 

Kira said, ‘You love him, so losing him feels like losing the whole world to you. But I don’t, so losing him is not going to kill me.” 

Kira turned around to leave. 

Kayleigh had no useful information to offer. 

All she wanted to do was to rent and get a rise out of Kira. 

Kira chided herself. 

She should have known better than to expect anything else from the actress. 

But she also felt a smidgen of pity for Kayleigh. 

Kayleigh Woods was drop–dead gorgeous and had millions of fans. 

If she focused on her career and put in the effort to polish her acting sidills, she could have made her mark in showbiz 

Instead, she spent her time plotting to win Austyn’s heart and scheming to hurt any woman who gol near him. 

Kira didn’t know what Austyn did or said to Kayleigh to drive her into this state, but the actress now looked practically deranged. 

“Kira Hewitt, go to hell!‘ 

Kayleigh’s vicious curse drew a frown from Kira. 

The actress was really losing her miru, 

Kira picked up her pace. 

Suddenly, a hand clamped around her neck and a wet rag was pressed over her mouth and nose. 

Kira opened her mouth to scream but inhaled a pungent scent. 

The hallway spun in front of her eyes. 

She struggled, but the hand was strong and she felt strength draining out of her. 

‘Help!‘ Her voice was muffled. 

The hand pressed down harder, 

Kira was suffocating 

She knew the rag must be doused in some land of chemical that was making her dizzy, but she couldn’t hold her breath forever. 

“Stop moving!” A man’s voice growled next to her car. 

“Hey! Let go of her!! 

A woman with a familiar face rushed towards Kira. 

Then Kira passed out 

Sea held up Kira’s limp body. 

He threw a confused glance at the woman running towards him. “What the hell? There’s two of them? 

He stared at Kayleigh. ‘What’s going on? Which one’s Austyn’s wife?‘ 

Kayleigh was just as confused. ‘I don’L‘ 

‘Doesn’t matter. I’ll just grab them.‘ Sean tilted his chin towards the newcomer. ‘Get her.” 

Gwen pulled up short at the sight of two men barrelling towards her. 

She’d jumped out when she saw Kira getting attacked, thinking she could scare off the man. 

But there were three of them! 

Gwen spun around and ran, 

‘Get her!‘ Sean barked. 

Help! Gwen shouted at the top of her lungs. 

The passageway led to a dtchen. 

There must be people in there who could hear her. 

But before help arrived, Gwen was knocked out by a heary blow to the back of her head. 

She collapsed to the floor. 

‘Doss, what now? Ronald had Gwen by her arm 

She was unconscious. 

“Take them both!“: 

h!” Sean cursed. “What 

fuck is going on? 

Gideon was in the midst of a conversation with the councillor when Martin jogged over with an anxious look on his face. 

“Young Master,” he whispered to Gideon. “I’ve lost Miss Hewitt!” 

“What?” Gideon inclined his head at the councillor. “Excuse me.‘ 

He dragged Martin to the side and whisper–shouted, “You had one job! What the hell happened?” 

“Miss Hewitt went to the ladies‘ room. I couldn’t go inside, so I stayed out in the hallway. Almost twenty minutes passed and she still didn’t come out. I ventured inside for a look, but she was gone.” 

“How?” Gideon gave his assistant a death stare. ‘Where was she last seen at?” 

‘At the ladies‘ room downstairs.” 

Gideon bounded towards the stairs. I’ll go look for her myself. 

‘But Young Master, what about the party?”
