“What Sean spun around, looking up at the second floor. ‘Greg!” 

No one replied. 

“Tony! Ned!! Sean started to panic. ‘Shit!” 

‘Now, let’s see if I can get them to respond.‘ Austyn snapped his fingers. 

Right on cor, a body fell over the railing of the second flour and landed on the concrete ground with a loud thump 

Sean recognised Tony’s body. “What the fuck!! 

The mercenary’s eyes were wide open. 

There was a bullet hole right between his eyebrows. 

“No, no! This isn’t possible! How did No! There’s only one way in or out of this place! How did you‘ 

“You’ve been in Stamford for two years, Austyn sald calmly, while I’ve been bere my entire life. It’s not so difficult to get the blueprint for the place if you know the right person to ask‘ 

Sean stared at him blankly. 

Blow Everybody Up 

“Did you know this factory has an underground tunnel leading to the factory behind It?” 

Austyn’s connections, plus Damian’s clout with city hall, put them in touch with the factory’s previous owner, a man who was currently serving a five- year prison sentence for manufacturing counterfelt handbags 

He bought this factory and the one behind it, then he dug a tunnel to link them up, so he could transfer evidence of his crime when he caught wind of a coming Inspection. 

Luca’s face appeared over the railing “Sean Santoro, your men are all under arrest, those inside the warehouse and out. I suggest 

now.” 

He pointed his gun at the dead body on the floor. “You see what happens if you resist.‘ 

Damian came to stand next to him. “Your mercenary buddies gave you up. Time for you to do the same, 

Sean couldn’t believe his eyes. 

He glowered at Austyn. ‘You said you came alone!* 

*And you just took my word for it? Austyn sneered. “That was pretty stupid, even for you.‘ 

Sean’s mind was a chaotic mess 

He couldn’t think straight. 

When Kayleigh called him, he had been so excited that he didn’t think it all the way through 

He just knew he couldn’t let this chance slip through his fingers. 

The abandoned warehouse was chosen a long time ago, but he had not had time to do a complete sweep of the place. 

The sweet taste of revenge made him throw caution to the wind. 

He knew Austyn might have help, but so did he 

He was prepared for a gunfight. 

But he didn’t expect the mercenaries to be so easily defeated. 

Sean wiped the beads of sweat off his face. 

It was okay. 

All was not lost. 

He finally had McCarthy right in front of him. 

He was not going to get another chance like this! 

Sean shouted, “Don’t move!‘ 

He whipped out a button from his pants pocket and held it up. 

The scar on his face twitched like a centipede come to life. 

‘Shit!‘ Damian cursed. 

He spoke into his comms. “Snipers, in position!” 

“Stop!‘ Sean shouted again as Austyn approached him. 

He held up the device in his hand 

It looked just like a key fob with a red button. 

Sean retreated to a corner, a blind spot for the snipers upstairs. 

‘Ronald, get over here!” 

Ronald dragged Kira with him, using her as a human shield. 

“Let her go!” Austyn bellowed. 

you surrender right 

‘Don’t come any closer!” Sean hid behind a concrete pillar. I have a bomb detonator in my hand! One more step and I’ll blow everybody up!” 

He yelled at Austyn, ‘If you don’t want this woman to die, ask the police to leave! Now! 

His left arm was clamped around Kira’s neck. 

She couldn’t speak 

‘Get out of here!” she said with her eyes. 

Austyn received the message, loud and clear. 

But he couldn’t possibly comply.

How could he leave her here to die? 

Jest thinking about it sent an excruciating shot of pain through his heart. 

When he spoke, his voice was so hoarse that the police captain almost didn’t hear him, ‘Luca, Damian, ask your men to fall back.”

“And the snipers!” Sean yelled. ‘I don’t want anyone else in the warehouse, just McCarthy!” 

“Fuck!“‘ Luca yanked on his short hair 

Austyn looked up at him with bloodshot eyes. 

Kira’s face was turning blue.. 

She could barely breathe. 

Her eyes were rolling back into her skull. 

‘Luca!‘ Austyn barked. 

Luca breathed out heavily, then he gestured to his officers to retreat from the second floor. 

Damian and his team followed suit 

Everyone cleared out of the warehouse 

It was now just the five of them–Austyn, Sean, Kira, Ronald, and Gwen who cowered in the cage. 

“Go check upstairs!” Sean kicked at Ronald 

His subordinate agreed grudgingly. 

What if someone was still hiding up there, waiting to ambush him? 

But Ronald dared not provoke Sean further. 

His boss looked unhinged. 

Sean inched out from behind the pillar
