She looked up blankly, then she blinked. 

Austyn? 

She hadn’t realised he was here. 

It had been such a chaotic scene, 

After the shots rang out, the police must have stormed into the warehouse.

Kira didn’t notice any of those. 

There was no time to wait for an ambulance 

Four officers carried Gideon into a police van and raced to the hospital. 

They couldn’t pry Kira away from him, so they let her ride in the van.. 

She was so focused on Gideon that she didn’t see Austyn get in after her. 

Austyn pursed his lips at the dazed look on Kira’s bloodied face. 

Her pupils were dilated. 

Her face was ashen. 

Her skin was cold and clammy. 

When he held her wrist, he could feel her pulse racing. 

She must be in shock 

Her neck was covered in purplish marks. 

The blood blended in with her red dress.

From this angle, she could see the light above the operating room’s door. 

She would know the moment the surgery was over 

She had to stay here.

It took all of Austyn’s self–control not to go berserk in the ER. 

He had so many questions for her. Who was Gideon to her? How long had they known each other? Was she seeing him behind her husband’s back? 

But this was neither the time nor the place to ask. 

Kira was a bloody mess. 

She looked like she was on the verge of fainting. 

She needed to see a doctor, 

Austyn took a long, deep breath. 

‘Come with me. He tried to put some calm in his voice.

With his other hand, he took out his phone and made a call. 

‘Jesse, I’m coming to your office right now. If you’re not at the hospital, get one of your colleagues to come.” 

‘I’m on duty tonight. I’ll be right over. What’s going on?” 

Kira had not stopped struggling 

She was dead set on getting back to the ER.
