Since the woman was just a stranger, Kira decided there was no harm in telling! 

It was fine as long as she didn’t mention Austyn’s name. 

She said, “Yes, I’m married.” 

The woman’s shoulders tensed. 

She managed to say after a while, ‘I would have never guessed. You look so young.” 

“Oh, I just have one of those baby faces.‘ Kira turned her attention back to the woman. ‘What about you? The man you still love, is he married? 

‘Yes.‘ 

Kira thought the woman’s voice had gone cold, but maybe it was just her imagination. 

‘Then what are you going to do?” 

‘T’ll wait for him! 

“Huh?” That was not an answer Kira expected. 

Did this mean Connelly would wait for the man to get a divorce? 

Or did she mean something else? 

‘He doesn’t love his wife. There was an edge to her voice. I know that. I know their marriage can’t last long. So I’ll wait for him.” 

She smiled expectantly. ‘He loves me. I can tell. He’s going to be divorced sooner or later. I just need to wait.” 

Kira didn’t know what to say. 

She was impressed by the woman’s determination, but couldn’t quite bring herself to agree with Connelly’s wish to break up a marriage. 

Wouldn’t she be worried that others would call her a homewrecker? 

Kira kept that thought to herself. 

She didn’t really know Connelly that well to offer advice like that. 

But she kind of liked her new friend, so Kira ventured to express her opinion as subtly as she could manage. 

‘I’m not sure what’s the norm overseas, but here, society frowns upon the idea of someone interfering in a marriage. You know, the sanctity of marriage and all that.” 

It would be fine if Miss Connelly just kept her feelings to herself and bided her time.

But she was in for a rude awakening if she tried to do something to sabotage the man’s marriage. 

Connelly turned her head and stared at Kira. 

Is there something on my face?” Kira touched her cheeks 

‘No.’Connelly looked away. 

Her voice was low, but her tone was adamant. ‘He doesn’t love his wife. He loves me. And I love him. To me, his wife is the third wheel in this relationship.” 

Kira’s eyes widened. 

She knew some people believed that true love trumped everything else, including rules and principles. 

She just never thought she would meet one in real life. 

This was such a…warped view of morality. 

Not a view Kira could condone. 

You’ve Never Experienced True Love 

Kira decided to shut up. 

She was afraid she might say something unpleasant if she opened her mouth again. 

Each person was entitled to their own opinions. 

It wasn’t her place to lecture a woman she’d just met, no matter how badly she wanted to. 

Connelly seemed to understand the meaning of Kira’s silence. 

She smiled. ‘Do you think I’m wrong?” 

“N–no, 1, uh, I don’t think 

‘Then you have not experienced true love. If you had, you would understand how I feel, and you would agree with me.‘ 

Kira thought about it. 

How would she feel if she were in Miss Connelly’s shoes? 

What if she fell in love with Austyn, only to learn he was already married? 

Kira tried to visualise that scenario. 

She shook her head 

Even if the man she loved was already married, she would not do what Miss Connelly did. 

She wouldn’t wish to break up a marriage, no matter how much she loved that man. 

She couldn’t do that. 

She would bow out. 

Kira was confident that she could survive without a man. 

Love was supposed to make you a better person, not worse, 

‘We were deeply in love at that time,‘ Connelly said. ‘He adored me, and I worshipped him.‘ 

Kira fidgeted 

She wasn’t sure she still wanted to hear Miss Connelly’s story. 

But her new friend continued, ‘He has a very reserved nature. Very quiet. Those who don’t know him well might think he’s aloof. But he really isn’t. Once you get to know him, you get to see the kind soul and the warm heart underneath. He’s the type who, once he loves, gives it his all.‘

Kira stole another glance at her strange new acquaintance. 

Miss Connelly had an easy smile and a graceful figure. 

The white dress took at least five years off her age 

Her long silky hair cascaded down her shoulders, adding to her charm.
