The Mas No Proof 

“Your name’s Austyn McCarthy, Kira said firmly. “You are from Stamford. You served in the army after you graduated from university. Then you left and started your own company. It’s called the M Group.” 

He nodded, not to acknowledge what she said, just to urge her to go on. 

‘Then… It’s a long story, but you were shot four years ago. Then you went missing. Your friends and family have not given up searching for you. Finally, I found you.” Austyn narrowed his eyes. ‘Twas shot? Who’s the shooter?” 

Kira bit her lower lip. ‘Me! 

The Wedding’s Still On 

Technically, it was Henry’s bodyguard who pulled the trigger.

Austyn stepped backwards immediately after heating the answer. 

He kept awary distance between himself and the harmless–looking woman. “You shot me?

His temples started throbbing. 

The familiar pain was back 

He had to leave before he was seized by a fainting spell. 

Austyn somehow got the feeling that this time, the migraine was triggered by what the woman said. 

It was a lot to take in 

she called him by a different name, daimed to be his wife and said he had a whole other life in aderent city. 

He needed time to process the information and to seek verification. 

“Austyn – 

“That’s not my name. And I said we’re done talking

Kira tried to grab his hand. 

He shookbar off and shot her a sharp look. ‘I don’t like being touched by strangers” 

Kira flinched as if someone slapped her 

Austyn willed himself to ignore the pained look on her face and went back into the ward. 

Owen heaved an audible sigh of rellet when she saw him come in alone. 

“What?” Austyn didn’t miss her expression

Gwenswallowed. “Did she? Maybe she remembered wrongly.” 

Austyn looked pensive. 

For some reason, he didn’t tell Gwen about the part where the woman claimed to be his wife 

He needed to find out the truth for himself first 

Gwened forward and held his hand. ‘She may know something about your past. Are you going to meet her again?” 

“Why would I want to meet someone who tried to kill me?” Austynpatted Gwen’s hand in a gesture to reassure her ‘She’s a total stranger to me. 

That dispelled Gwen’s fears somewhat.
