He knocked once before pushing the door open. 

The sight of Austyn in bed gave him a start. 

He turned to Kira. ‘What did you do? He was fine a couple of hours ago. Now he looks like he’d lost a boxing match.” 

Kira rolled her eyes. ‘You think I did that to him? 

‘Then why is his face swollen? Luca pointed at Austyn. ‘Did someone else do this to him?” 

Isabel covered the kids‘ eyes, but she was looking at Kira curiously. 

Kira gave up trying to talk to Luca. 

She turned to Austyn. ‘Why don’t you tell them yourself?” 

Austyn glanced at Luca. ‘It’s no big deal. I just went a few rounds with a scum 

He caught himself when he saw the ldds looking at him. 

He cleared his throat. “I beat up a bad guy. 

“Bad guy?‘ Luca was puzzled. “Who?” 

Austyn’s eyes turned cold. 

He lowered his voice so the kids wouldn’t hear him. ‘Gideon Garner.” 

Isabel heard it, though. 

She burst out laughing but quickly stopped hersell.

Austyn got into a fight with Gideon twenty minutes ago. Austyn, the patient, started it.

Austyn was enjoying having Kira fuss all over him, but Gideon just couldn’t take a hint and leave. 

He kept talking to Kira, asking her about work, about the kids, and about things Austyn had zero knowledge of 

He even asked how Austyn was doing, as if he and Kira were a couple who were visiting a friend at a hospital. 

Austyn lost his temper and threw the first punch 

The fight escalated. 

It took four nurses to pull them apart. 

Austyn didn’t want to get into the details. 

When Isabel sensed the awkward silence in the room, she brought the lads forward. “Jennie didn’t sleep well last night. She’s very worried about you.” 

Jennie stared at the white bandage around Austyn’s head. ‘Daddy, does it hurt?‘ 

Austyn picked her up and placed her next to him on the bed. 

Then he did the same with Joshua 

He held a hand from each lod. “It doesn’t hurt anymore. Daddy’s fine now.! 

Jennie’s face brightened up. 

Joshua just nodded. 

‘Don’t worry.” Austyn patted his son’s head. “I heard you took care of your sister yesterday. Good job.” 

Joshua lowered his head, feeling shy. “It’s nothing.” 

Kira scooped Tennie up in her arms, afraid she would accidentally touch Austyn’s wound. ‘Daddy needs to rest now. Shall we go get some food?” 

The kids had lunch before they came, but toddlers needed to be fed every two to three hours. 

‘Go, Daddy’s fine Austyn stroked Jennie’s cheek. 

‘Do you want pancakes, Daddy? the girl asked. “And ice cream?” 

To her, blueberry pancakes and ice cream were the most delicious foods in the world. 

Sure, Will you bring me back some?! 

‘I will! Count on me!” 

Kira took the twins away. 

Isabel left with them.. 

Luca made sure the door was closed before turning to Austyn. 

He helped himself to a Fuji apple on the table. ‘You’ve got your memory back, haven’t you?‘ 

Austyn wasn’t surprised that Luca would know, 

He knew how observant his friend could be..

Luca smirked. ‘You’d only do that if you remembered who Kira is to you, and what happened between her and Gideon.” 

Austyn didn’t deny it.

Luca thought Kira would have been the first one to know. 

She spent so much time looking for Austyn.

‘Now’s not the time,” Austyn said simply. “What did you find out at the amusement pack?” 

Luca sat down on a chair and crossed his legs at the ankles. ‘Not much, actually. We shut down the park after the train derailed, I came with you to the
