Chapter 81 

So, Aiden and Ruby were the new alpha and luna now? This was news for them. 

“I only know about this,” Hunter said lightly, as he wiped his sweat. He didn’t seem bothered by this news, but he glanced at Lilac to see her reaction. 

It was whether she didn’t care or she was an expert to hide her own feeling, but he believed it was the former, since she was not good at lying. 

“Yes, Aiden took the title of alpha from his father around two days ago from the rumor that I heard.” 

“Why? Alpha James wanted an early retirement?” Hunter put on his clothes and then took Lilac’s hand, as the three of them walked back to the pack house. 

“I don’t know, I think there is an internal conflict within their pack. I am not sure. You are not interested with what happened there, so I don’t put an effort to find out more.” Rye shrugged his shoulders nonchalantly. 

He was right. 

After that information, Hunter walked Lilac back to their bedroom and then went to arrange the meeting with his beta and gamma, while she took a bath. 

Hunter returned at night when Lilac was about to go to the dining hall to get eat her dinner. 

“Let’s have dinner together inside, there is something I want to talk about with you,” Hunter said. It was very rare to see how he looked very serious like right now. 

Confused, Lilac blinked her eyes and asked him about what was going on and what he wanted to talk about. 

“I believed I have made myself very clear,” Hunter started. He stopped talking when two servants entered the room and brought their dinner. They put a lot of food on the table between the two of them and immediately scurried away. 

Lilac had wanted to ask Raya about why people looked very scared with Hunter, because she got this vibe whenever she walked with him. People would lower their head and tried to avoid his eyes, but when they thought Hunter was no longer aware of their existence, they would secretly glance at him with this sheepish smiled on their l*ps. This happened only to female shifters, while male shifters would look very respectful.

Lilac didn’t think Hunter was a scary alpha, but people around her acted like he 

was one. 

“What do you want to talk about?” Lilac asked, she looked very beautiful and charming after she washed herself from dirt and dust after their training, Hunter could smell her fresh scent and this burned his throat. 

“You are my woman, Lilac, but there is one way to assert your title.” Hunter stared at Lilac, from her beautiful eyes down to her slender n*eck. “I need to mark no one would dare to say otherwise when I claim you as my woman.”

His voice was clear and concise, but it didn’t deter the heavy meaning behind it at all. 

Hunter wanted her, he had made it very clear since the very beginning that he wanted her as his woman, as his mate, if Lilac put it into her understanding. 

She knew this moment would come and she thought she was ready, but when she was faced with this question, her heart was thumping wildly. 

It didn’t mean Lilac didn’t want Hunter. No, she wanted him. She wanted this man, who had saved her a few times, someone that belonged to her. Someone that she could call as hers. 

But then, she couldn’t help, but became really nervous. Her face turned very red. 

Why she felt like her heart was going out of her chest? The food in front of her was no longer appetizing anymore. 

“So, what do you want to do?” Lilac was glad her voice didn’t falter, because it would be pretty embarrassing if she was shaking when she asked this obvious question. 

“I want to mark you. I want to claim you as mine.” Hunter stood up and Lilac prayed he wouldn’t hear her beating heart when he knelt down in front of her and took her hand. “I didn’t want to rush you, but I think I have waited enough for you to open your heart for me. I want to claim you as my woman before our meeting with your former pack.” 

“Why so?” Lilac narrowed her eyes. “Is it because you heard Aiden stepped in as the alpha?” 

Hunter lifted his head and stared at Lilac straight into her eyes, as if he could read what was in her mind and this made her flustered. “Not really, but that might be one of the reasons.”
