A Stick Called the Truth
Kelly’s POV
“Does my father know that his daughter wanted to
me?”
Luke shook his head. He was peeling the orange and giving it to me. I’m sitting on the bed while he’s sitting on the chair beside my bed. I ate lunch while he’s telling me everything he discovered.
“He doesn’t know anything.”
My forehead creased. “Are you sure?”
“If you can’t trust your own father, you have to trust me.”
“Why would I trust you again?”
“Because you don’t have anyone to trust other than me?”
I gritted my teeth as I stared at his serious face. I snatched the piece of orange and put it in my mouth. I chewed it with anger and he just sighs.
“Can you still wait a few more months?”
I looked at him angrily. “Damn it, Luke! Do you still have plans on setting me. free? I’ve been waiting for three months now!”
“Your sister wants to kill you. Mercilessly.”
‘Then we’ll kill each other!”
“Can you kill?”
I was rendered speechless. I couldn’t kill because I’m not a criminal.
“I know you can’t because you never stained your hands. Our priority now is your child, Miss. If you don’t value your life anymore, at least think about your child. You have to understand.”
“Luke, I’m trying to understand the situation even when it’s so hard. I’m trying to understand why I should be kept here instead with my family. I’m trying, okay? But I’m not some camel who can adapt to a deserted environment. I can’t understand! You are so confident that you can protect me and yet you brought me here. How am I supposed to understand your logic?”
“Didn’t you hear what I said earlier? Your enemy is your own sister and the group of criminals who abducted you when you’re a child. Your father’s other r father is the key to your child and your father’s old enemy. You get me? Your father is the key to your survival.”
“How? When I’m being chased to death because of him?”
“Those criminals couldn’t get closer to your father so they’re attacking you. And your sister won’t suspect that you’re here because she knows that your hate him.”
I looked him in the eyes. “My father won’t let me go.
“Exactly! We can’t deny that your father is a powerful man. Even more powerful. than Mr. Anderson. He won’t allow anyone to hurt his precious daughter.”
I laughed sarcastically. “You think I’m his precious daughter?”
“He’s planning to give his company to you. One of the reasons why your sister hates you to death,”
My jaws dropped as I shook my head. “How did you know all of these?”
“I’m his most trusted man, right?”
Days and months passed like a wind. I’m still trying to adjust even when I know I couldn’t. My father is going back two months from now and it’s already my due date. Luke never leaves my side. He’s with me all se days and months that I’m struggling on my own. I had to endure everything just so I can safely deliver my baby into this world. After this, I can finally fight my enemies. without worrying about the life inside me. At least that’s a relief.
