Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 182

Betrayal At The Altar By Dolores Delia Chapter 182

The next morning, Rachel went to office as usual.

In the conference room, she rested her forehead in one hand and quietly listened to the department head’s report on stage.

Under Rachel’s gaze, the supervisor was on tenterhooks. His back was unknowingly drenched in cold sweat, afraid that he might say something wrong.

At this moment, Rachel’s phone suddenly rang.

She quickly picked it up and took a look. It was David.

She pursed her lips and suppressed the smile on her face. She stood up and said, “Let’s stop here for today. We’ll continue tomorrow.”

The supervisors secretly heaved a sigh of relief and watched Rachel leave.

Back in her office, Rachel picked up the video call.

David’s stunning face appeared clearly on her phone screen.

“Did you not rest well last night?” David’s dark eyes stared at Rachel’s face and noticed the faint dark circles beneath her eyes.

Rachel’s eyes flashed slightly. Of course, she could not admit that she had lost sleep the night before because she had missed him.

Hence, she found a random excuse. “I drank a little last night and had a headache.”

“How’s the wine?” David asked.

Rachel said thoughtfully, “It depends on who I drink with.”

David raised his eyebrows without batting an eyelid. He looked at her with a meaningful smile in his eyes. “When I return, drink for me.”

“You haven’t rested yet?” Rachel noticed David’s bloodshot eyes and could not help but feel her heart ache. “Did things go smoothly?”

David, who was sitting on the sofa, stood up and picked up the wine glass on the table. He took a sip and said, “It’s a little tricky.”

“Okay.” Rachel was a little surprised, but she still nodded. “Remember to be careful.”

“Yeah.”

David answered and hung up.

The smile on his face gradually faded, and his eyes were filled with stormy rage. “Attack in the wee hours of the morning. Don’t fight!”

“I’ll give the order now!” Landon replied.

When he left the room, he turned to look at Jimmy Shain, who was still bandaging himself, and frowned imperceptibly.

They had been brothers for so many years. Even if it was just a look, they knew each other’s thoughts.

Jimmy Shain pursed his lips and teased, “Can you not look at me like that? It’s not like I’m hopeless!”

Landon chuckled and opened the door to leave.
