Betrayal At The Altar By Dolores Delia Chapter 405
Rachel lowered her eyes and pursed her lips. Her hands on her knees suddenly clenched into fists.
After a moment of silence, she took a deep breath and smiled. “Got it, Grandpa.”
“Do you want to open the box and see what’s inside?” Old Mr. Johnson took a sip of coffee and looked at Rachel.
“It’s just a diamond…” Rachel blurted out without any hesitation.
After saying that, she secretly bit her tongue.
It was over. She couldn’t hide her relationship with David anymore!
However, Old Mr. Johnson did not pursue the matter. “Aren’t you curious about the origin of the engagement at all?”
Rachel looked at Old Mr. Johnson. “Why haven’t I heard of it before?”
“I don’t know the exact origin of this marriage,” Old Mr. Johnson said. “To be honest, I’ve never thought that the Jones family would come to me with the token one day.”
The Jones family didn’t contact him all those years. He even thought that the Jones family had long forgotten about this marriage.
“Rae–Rae, as long as you are unwilling, even if you have to sacrifice the entire Johnson family, I will help you destroy this marriage,” Old Mr. Johnson said calmly.
His words were filled with unquestionable determination.
Rachel sensed the determination in Old Mr. Johnson’s eyes. Her almond–shaped eyes were puzzled. “Do you want me to propose breaking off the engagement?”
“What era is it now? It’s no longer the era of prenatal marriage.” Old Mr. Johnson held her hand and patted it earnestly. “Rae–Rae, this marriage is not suitable for you.”
After saying that, Rachel did not respond for a long time.
She asked herself honestly. She actually liked this marriage.
So she didn’t want to break off the engagement.
Old Mr. Johnson seemed to have seen through her thoughts and did not say anything else.
The two of them sat at Joyce’s for a moment before getting up to leave.
When they left, Old Mr. Johnson talked about the Chamber of Commerce that would be coming soon. “I know you don’t like to go through the motions, but the Chamber of Commerce this time involves a lot of benefits. We have to deal with it.”
“I understand. I’ll get ready then.” Rachel held Old Mr. Johnson’s arm and carefully walked down the steps.
“There’s nothing much to prepare. It’s just a formality. You’ve seen the people from the remaining families,” Old Mr. Johnson said. “Even if it’s for my sake, they won’t make things difficult for you. Don’t think that I’m long–winded. I let you participate in this Chamber of Commerce to let you appear openly. Besides, I can help you expand your connections.
“In the past, you hid your identity. The outside world didn’t know your identity. Now that you’ve grown up and have the ability to take charge, it’s time for them to see our Rae–Rae’s glory. The other families have a pivotal position in Seaxas. If you can really form a deep friendship with them, it will become a bargaining chip for you to turn the tide in the future. Do you understand?”
Whether it was in business or in private, having more connections was another way out.
Rachel had to be prepared.
Rachel smiled. “I understand your intentions.”
However, she did not understand why her maternal grandfather suddenly wanted to pave the way for her.
Could it be because of David’s sudden engagement?
However, Rachel felt that she needed to have a good chat with David about the origin of the engagement.
David was really mean. He had actually hidden it from her for so long!
As Rachel and Old Mr. Johnson’s figures gradually disappeared, Old Mr. Smith slowly walked out from behind the rockery and plants.
After the two of them left, the butler observed the expression on Old Mr.
Smith’s face.
Old Mr. Smith stood rooted to the ground in shock, his hands trembling uncontrollably.
“Mr. Smith…” The butler’s eyes revealed a hint of worry.
Old Mr. Smith suddenly came back to his senses and looked at him deeply. “Let’s go home!”
Old Mr. Smith returned to the Smith family.

Its ridiculouse to think it is normal to love bomb someone for couple of days and then they are in love. They dont know each other at all. So annoying to read. And whats more, to kiss by force is romantic?? How the hell is that romantic?? Cant understand its logic....
