Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 464

Chapter 464

David’s eyes narrowed slightly and, a chill flickered. He lowered his voice and asked, “All the time?”

He guessed they were monitoring Rachel’s movements on the pretext of protecting her.

“Compared to the practices of other prestigious families, the Johnson family does not have that many regulations. However, everyone in the Johnson family had to ab*de by one rule.” Rachel felt powerless as she enlightened David. “We are not allowed to flaunt our wealth.”

Although Rachel did not elaborate, David could easily figure out the reason behind the rule.

The Johnson family had a high profile in Seaxas. Their status and influence were coveted by many. It was inevitable that they would target the younger generation of the family.

Holding the steering wheel with one hand, David cast a glance at Rachel. “Is that why you went to study at Pollister?”

Rachel nodded and said evenly, “During that time, Darcy was not only my driver, but he was also responsible for my safety. After graduation, Darcy left the Johnson family, but he kept in touch with us all these years.”

David did not say anything. However, his eyes hinted at sarcasm.

Darcy left the Johnson family but remained in contact with the Johnson family.

This man was a very patient predator.

When both of them returned to Sandalwood Hills, Rachel went to the bathroom to take a shower.

After bathing, she saw David standing on the balcony. He was on the phone. He had his back facing the bedroom, with one hand on the railing. It was not difficult to detect his detached yet imposing aura.

Hearing footsteps behind him, David turned around and saw Rachel.

The moment his gaze landed on her, the coldness in his eyes seemed to have dissipated. It was replaced by a rare display of tenderness.

Dressed with only a bathrobe, Rachel was wiping her hair dry with a towel.

As she moved, the loose neckline of the bathrobe parted slightly, revealing her fair skin and delicate collarbone. They were completely exposed in front of David.
