Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 569

After entering the private room, Olivia walked up to Mrs. Smith with a smile. “Mrs. Smith, I chose a necklace for you on the way here, so I was delayed. I’m really sorry.”

As she spoke, she opened the jewelry box.

Inside the box was an ice-type jade embedded with rubies and diamonds.

Every piece of jade was crystal clear. Under the light, it seemed to have the luster of a cat’s eye, complementing the gorgeous rubies.

There was no lack of nobility in its elegance.

Mrs. Smith had taken a liking to this necklace when she was shopping previously. However, the Smith family’s business was not doing well during this period of time, so she could only bear to part with it.

She did not expect Olivia to buy it for her.

This was a pleasant surprise!

Mrs. Smith’s eyes flashed with joy, but in front of people of the Cruise family, she could not appear too superficial. She could only suppress the excitement in her heart and said. “Thank you.”

“My pleasure.” Olivia smiled obediently. “I’ve caused a lot of trouble these past few days, causing you to be implicated as well. I really feel very guilty…

Hearing this, Mrs. Smith sighed helplessly. “You used to be a public figure. Now that you’ve left the industry, who knows how many people are watching you in the dark? If you do anything wrong, your mistakes will be magnified countless times and become the topic of discussion for the public. So in the future, treat this matter as a lesson and be more careful.

“In the future, you have to think twice before you speak or do anything. Otherwise, you’ll get into trouble again.”

Olivia pretended to be obedient just to gain Mrs. Smith’s favor. But she did not expect Mrs. Smith to put on airs and lecture her seriously.

She answered obediently.

However, she lowered her head to hide the coldness and disdain in her eyes.

Bertha sat in her seat and felt her face burning. She looked a little displeased.

After all, Olivia was the daughter she had given birth to after carrying her for ten months. She felt she was disrespected when her daughter was lectured by others in front of her!

Wasn’t this an obvious insult to her?

Sensing that the atmosphere was a little awkward, Richard smiled and said, “It’s said that daughters are considerate. I raised her for nothing. In the end, she only knows to be considerate to others.”

“Dad, what are you talking about?” Olivia looked shy. She stomped her feet and quickly walked to Richard’s side.

Seeing her shy look, everyone immediately beamed with joy, and the atmosphere eased.

Mrs. Smith looked at the necklace beside her and glanced at it from time to time.

The more she looked at it, the more she couldn’t wait to try it on.

She rolled her eyeballs and stood up apologetically. I’m going to the restroom. Please be my guest.”

“Mrs. Smith, I’ll go with you.” Olivia knew what Mrs. Smith was thinking the most.

When she stood up to leave, she deliberately took the necklace with her.

When she walked into the restroom, she walked to Mrs. Smith’s side and said, “Mrs. Smith, let me put the necklace on for you first.”

Mrs. Smith was secretly delighted, but she pretended to be polite. Tm afraid that’s not appropriate…”

“It’s a gift for you. Don’t worry. Nothing is inappropriate.” Olivia did not give Mrs. Smith a chance to refuse and helped her put on the necklace directly.

Mrs. Smith looked at herself in the mirror and gently stroked her face. Her eyes were filled with happiness.

“When I saw this necklace, I immediately thought of you.” Olivia praised Mrs. Smith generously. “Now it seems that this necklace really suits you.”
