Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 588

The moment Louis heard Rachel’s voice, his heart started racing uncontrollably.

Unexpectedly, he felt an overwhelming sense of joy and excitement.

Rachel still cared about him, right?

Otherwise, why would she interfere?

He tightened his grip around the number sign he was holding. For a moment, he forgot to continue bidding.

Seeing that he did not speak for a long time, Olivia could not help but turn to look.

When she saw his distracted look, a hint of coldness flashed in her eyes.

She collected her thoughts before putting on a gentle expression. “Louis, why don’t we forget about it? It’s just a ring.”

Louis came back to his senses. Looking at her forced smile, he frowned.

The conflict and struggle he was feeling were replaced by heartache and guilt. Determination appeared in his eyes as he raised the sign in his hand and said, “1.4 million dollars!”

“1.6 million dollars!” Rachel refused to give up.

Hearing her voice, the people below the stage erupted into discussion again.

Everyone knew that Louis and Olivia were getting engaged soon.

Since this was the case, Louis must be buying this ring for Olivia.

However, Rachel kept stopping Louis. It was obvious that she did not want Louis to get the ring.

There were a lot of dignitaries and socialites from Seaxas in the audience. In the current situation, they felt that they should not get involved and would just be onlookers.

As the price increased, Louis’s expression became more and more solemn.

Previously, Rachel’s decision to join the bid out of the blue made Louis feel that Rachel could not let go of him, but now that she was continuing to bid, it made him feel annoyed.

At this moment, Olivia held his hand and said gently, “Louis, forget it. There’s no need to spend so much money on me.”

The more obedient and sensible she acted, the more Louis’s heart ached.

He held Olivia’s hand. “What are you talking about? I’ll never put a price tag on you.”

As he spoke, he raised the sign in his hand again. “2 million dollars!”

There was an uproar below the stage.

They all looked at Rachel expectantly.

Rachel crossed her legs and raised the sign in her hand. Her red lips parted as she calmly said, “4 million

dollars.”

It was 2 million dollars more than the last bid. Everyone praised Rachel’s boldness and felt sorry for this woman who could not get who she loved.

So what if Rachel pestered Louis? It was a fact that Louis and Olivia were about to get engaged.

“This woman really doesn’t know what’s good for her. Mr. Smith and Miss Cruise are about to be engaged, yet she’s still unwilling to give up. She’s really shameless.”

“So greedy! This kind of woman often doesn’t end up in a good place!”

“As an ex-girlfriend, she should disappear from his sight. Why is she appearing in front of him? Is she afraid that no one knows how she pestered the Smith family in the past?”

The auction was more than halfway through. Most people had bought a few things, but Cindy had not paid a single cent.

Cindy blushed in embarrassment and glared at Rachel.

Cindy initially wanted to embarrass Rachel in public, but she did not expect to be exposed by Rachel.

At this moment, she really wanted to tear Rachel’s mouth apart.

Rachel’s red lips curled up into a bright and moving smile. “If you don’t have money, shut up. No one will pay to see you embarrass yourself, and even if they did, it wouldn’t be a huge amount.”

Then, Rachel ignored Cindy’s glare and looked at Louis, “Mr. Smith, 4 million dollars. Are you going to continue bidding?”

At this point, everyone’s eyes were on Louis. He had no way out.

He gritted his teeth and raised the number sign. “6 million dollars!”

“Louis!” Olivia looked at Louis in surprise.

Olivia thought that Louis would back off and did not expect him to yell out 6 million dollars!

He was going to spend 6 million dollars on just a diamond ring for her. This would definitely be in the headlines tomorrow.

Rachel raised her eyebrow. “Looks like Mr. Smith is determined to get this ring. Although I still have some money to spare, 6 million dollars for a diamond ring is too much for me, so I’m withdrawing from this bid.”

“I admire Mr. Smith’s strong support for philanthropy, I also wish him success. I think everyone here should applaud and congratulate Mr. Smith.”

Rachel took the lead in clapping. Spa rse applause came from below the stage, but gradually, thunderous. applause filled the entire hall.
