Betrayal At The Altar

Chapter 594

“Ah-

The entire place was filled with the panicked screams of the guests.

The sudden darkness sent everyone into a frenzy.

“What’s going on?”

“Why did the power suddenly go out?”

Without the gift of sight, the people pushed and shoved each other, desperate to flee the darkness.

Suddenly, someone in the crowd pushed Rachel. Wearing high heels, she was thrown off balance and fell directly in a certain direction.

At this moment, an arm reached around her waist.

Before she could react, the man swiftly wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her into his embrace.

“Let go!” Rachel frowned slightly, a hostile hint of coldness flashed in her deep eyes.

The next moment, she bent her arm and tried to elbow the man’s waist heavily.

However, the man saw it coming. He grabbed her arm and pinned it behind her back. He forcefully pulled her into his arms again and said, “How did you know I’m not him?”

The man’s languid and seductive voice echoed in Rachel’s cars.

Rachel smiled. “Why don’t you guess?”

Before she finished speaking, she suddenly raised her foot and stomped hard down on the man’s foot. The sharp heels crushed onto the man’s foot and made him gasp in pain. However, he did not mind it and said, “Come with me, the easy way or the hard way, your choice.”

“What if I refuse?” A hint of hostility emerged in Rachel’s cold voice.

A low and wicked chuckle came out of Ronnie Diekens’s throat as he tightened his arms around her waist and said, “You won’t have the chance to.”

The man’s tone exuded his arrogance.

“We’ll see about that,” Rachel said and suddenly raised her leg and kicked the man’s inner thigh.

Out of instinct and reflexes, Ronnie let go of her.

Seizing this opportunity, Rachel quickly broke free and fled.

In the darkness, someone accidentally bumped into the champagne tower table.

With the sound of glass shattering, sharp glass shards and wine splashed everywhere.

Rachel, in her high heels, slipped and fell hard.

High heels were indeed beautiful, but sometimes they could be a real hindrance.

For example, now.

If she fell onto the ground, even if she was lucky enough to not have her pretty skin destroyed by the shattered glass, she would be tr ampl**d to death.

Fortunately, Rachel fell straight into a warm and solid chest.

The cool wooden fragrance rushed into Rachel’s nose and swept over her heart, bringing her an unprecedented sense of peace.

Her hand clutched the man’s lapels. “David?”

“I’m here.” David leaned over and kissed the top of her head, his arms encircling her waist and holding

her tightly in his embrace.

He moved forward cautiously while protecting Rachel, using his body to shield her from danger.

Rachel held his waist tightly. At this moment, her heart was filled with emotions that would certainly last for quite a long while.

The sudden slap caused the woman to st**gger, nearly falling to the ground.

She managed to steady herself. She covered her cheek and stared coldly at Cindy.

“No one is allowed to hit my people however they like. A cold voice suddenly sounded from behind.

Cindy turned and immediately saw Rachel walking towards her slowly.

Rachel examined the injury on the woman’s face first, then said, “Go get that treated, then go to the

finance department to apply for a subsidy.”

“Thank you, Miss Grey.” When the woman left with her hand covering her face, she glared at Cindy.

Cindy snorted and raised her chin arrogantly. “Rachel, perfect timing! Tell me, how do you plan to compensate for this dress?”

“According to its price, of course,” Rachel replied.

Hearing this, Cindy’s eyes flashed with satisfaction. “Good, that’ll be 360 thousand dollars, cheque or credit card?”

“Miss Tory, it seems you’ve misunderstood me.”

Cindy frowned and looked at Rachel in confusion.

A charming smile graced her lips. “When I said I’ll compensate you according to its price, I didn’t mean for you to take advantage of the situation and extort me.”

“Rachel, you can just say so if you don’t have the money. There’s no need to accuse me! Cindy had a sarcastic smile. “Everyone knows that an haute couture gown from “The Raimant Collection, especially one by the mysterious designer Queen, is hard to come by. This dress cost me 360 thousand dollars, and I have an invoice to prove it!”

As if she had suddenly remembered something, Cindy exclaimed softly, “Ah, that’s right. Miss Grey is from a humble background, so you probably don’t have much experience of the world out there. It’s no wonder you’re unfamiliar with The Raimant Collection.

This was not the first time he deliberately mentioned Rachel’s background in public. She had done it repeatedly as if she had to make sure everyone present was aware of it.

Rachel curled her lips and replied unhurriedly. “Sometimes, invoices don’t necessarily prove everything. Your dress is worth 100 dollars tops. Any amount you paid beyond that is most likely because of st**pidity.”
