Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 686

Chapter 686

However, they quickly noticed the abnormality.

The air was mixed with nitrous oxide, also known as laugh gas, a colorless and sweet gas.

The erotic in Rachel’s eyes dissipated a little as she looked down at David.

Clearly, David also sensed the abnormal smell in the air.

His fingertips wrapped around a strand of hair hanging down from Rachel’s chest. He narrowed his eyes, and an unknown coldness flickered in the depths of his eyes.

When their eyes met, a thought-provoking dark glint flashed across each other’s eyes.

“It looks like we have guests tonight.” Rachel covered her mouth and nose with her clothes and wrapped her long hair behind her shoulders. Then, she turned around and sat by the bed. Her red lips curled into a cold smile. “It’s quite a unique thought to mix such a thing into the ventilation

system.”

Mixing nitrous oxide into the ventilation system and transmitting it to their room through the outlet ́ was really impossible for them to guard against.

Behind Rachel, David stretched out his arm and hooked her frail waist, pulling her into his arms. “Just some lowly tactics,” he said.

Rachel broke free from his embrace and walked toward the window.

After seeing through her intentions, David said calmly, “It’s useless.”

However, Rachel had a glimmer of hope.

Until she realized the window was locked from the inside. She couldn’t help but curse under her breath.

With some resentment, she sat down on the sofa and grabbed a pillow to cover her mouth and nose. She said in a low voice, “Let me guess who the mastermind is.”

David did not say anything but only supported his head with one hand and lay on the bed, looking at Rachel lovingly.

“It shouldn’t be Noah Jones,” Rachel said.

Based on conventional thinking, the first person everyone suspected was Noah Jones.

But from her impression of Noah Jones, she knew this person was quite cunning and very patient.

They had just met Noah in the morning, and at night, they were drugged and schemed against. This was not something Noah Jones could do.

Moreover, they had just met today. If he made a move tonight, wasn’t he clearly trying to light a fire on himself?

David slowly sat up and pulled off his tie. His deep and cold voice was slightly hoarse. “It’s not him.”

But the tie tightened. He crooked a finger at Rachel.

Rachel understood what he meant. She stood up and walked forward. Her slender fingers slowly untied his tie and asked suddenly, “Where’s Yann Jones?”

At night, Yann Jones suddenly left with his team, leaving only Billy and Chris.

According to Aureliana’s rules, unnecessary going out was not allowed after twelve o’clock.

In addition, it took at least forty minutes to travel by seaplane between the attached island and the main island.

If anything happened to them, Yann would not be able to rush over immediately.

A thought suddenly appeared in Rachel’s mind.

She lowered her gaze and looked at David in front of her. Her eyes flickered with a meaningful dark light.

David’s palm slid down her back and landed on her waist. He pulled her into his arms tightly and caressed the soft flesh at her waist, saying softly, “He won’t appear for the time being.”

Hearing this, Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly.

She reached out to hold David’s face and slowly bent down. Her beautiful big eyes stared at his dark eyes without blinking, and her eyes flickered with excitement. “It looks like you are planning to welcome the ‘guests’ personally tonight?”

She had known David for so long but had never seen him fight.

In his words, dealing with these small fries did not require him to do it himself. He only needed to stand at the side and instruct others to do it.

Actually, she was still looking forward to seeing David fight.

David curled his fingertips and lightly brushed them against Rachel’s nose, “Are you not afraid?”

“What’s there to be afraid of?” Rachel looked at him with a slight smile on her face. Her gorgeous face looked even more beautiful. “Besides, it’s rare to see my powerful fiancé show off his skills. I should be filled with joy and anticipation.”

Seeing the excitement in her eyes, David chuckled. “Didn’t you already know how capable I am?”

Rachel blinked and recalled seriously when she had seen him fight.

Sensing David’s ambiguous and evil smile, she immediately understood.

Meanwhile, Billy and Chris, who were eavesdropping in the next room, were speechless.

“If we were guilty, we could have been struck by a bolt of lightning from the heavens. Why did they have to force us to witness their displays of affection?” they thought in frustration.

They looked at each other speechlessly.

“Why was it that ever since Boss got together with Miss Grey, he had become more and more flirtatious?” They couldn’t help but wonder.

As the night grew darker and darker, the entire island fell into a dead silence.

Other than the waves crashing on the beach, there was no other sound.

It was as if everything had fallen into a deep sleep.

Rachel leaned comfortably in David’s arms. Her eyes were slightly closed, and her fingertips were tapping rhythmically.

David didn’t say anything but just rubbed her forehead with his chin.

Although they did not talk, there was a warm atmosphere around them.

Just as Rachel was about to fall asleep, a series of footsteps quietly approached the villa.

Rachel’s eyebrows moved slightly, and the corners of her lips curled up.

“Don’t get hurt. Don’t do anything risky.” David knew that Rachel was skilled, but he still could not help to remind her.
