Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 750

Chapter 750

After leaving the cemetery, Rachel drove toward the Johnson Corporation.

Her assistant, Linda, gave her a report on the month’s work.

Immediately after, Rachel organized a meeting.

Time seemed to go faster as she busied herself. In the blink of an eye, the sun was about to set.

Rachel returned to her office and raised her hand to pinch her slightly swollen forehead.

She got up and made herself a cup of coffee. Then, she turned around and walked to the floor-to-ceiling window.

As night fell, the colorful neon lights of the city gradually lit up, making her figure look more desolate and lonely.

At this moment, Lucas pushed open the door and entered. He could not help but laugh and tease when he saw Rachel sitting on a chair with a cup in her hands, “Yo, you’re drinking coffee.”

Upon hearing his voice, the gloominess in Rachel’s eyes faded a little. “Why are you here?”

“I was worried a certain someone would cry, so I specially came to accompany her.” As he spoke, Lucas took out a dozen bottles of beer.

Rachel looked at the beer and various delicacies on the table and raised her eyebrows slightly. “You’ve prepared everything.”

“Of course.” Lucas unpacked the food himself, only allowing Rachel to -watch from the side. “You’re the little princess of the Johnson family. I have

to dote on you.”

Rachel grabbed two pillows from the sofa and used them as cushions.

They ate lobster and drank beer.

Lucas casually brought out topics to chat about. They talked about things

that happened when he was young to when he was in school before he finally changed the topic to David.

“To be honest, I don’t agree with you being with David from the bottom of my heart.” Lucas could not help but tighten his grip on the beer can. His joints had turned faintly greenish-white. It was as if he was trying his best to not explode. “It doesn’t matter if it’s the Johnson family or me. Everyone only wants you to be safe and happy.”

Nowadays, the Johnson family did not need to rely on marriages with other families to advance further in society. All it needed was stability.

It was the family’s unspoken secret that it would leave all of its assets to Rachel.

However, David’s appearance was indeed an accident.

“But the heavens seem to have arranged everything. Not only are the two of you together, but you also have a marriage engagement with him that no one knows about.” At this point, he could not help but chuckle. “The old man and my father are really tight-lipped. They actually hid it well all these years. If it weren’t for David, I’m afraid all of us would have been kept in the dark for the rest of our lives.”

Rachel raised her head and gulped down the remaining beer in the can. She said meaningfully, “That’s true for anyone, isn’t it?”

Originally, she only wanted to figure out the origins of her engagement with David. Unexpectedly, not only did she not figure it out, but she was also trapped by other problems.

“Do you want to go for a spin?” Lucas looked at Rachel.

Rachel frowned slightly. “We’ve both been drinking.”

“Can we at least go to the Entertainment Center to do a few laps on the go-karts?” Lucas said. He stood up and picked up his coat on the sofa with one hand. At the same time, he extended a hand to Rachel.

Rachel placed her hand in his palm and was pulled up by him.

When the two of them walked out of the company, Chris suddenly walked

forward. “Miss Grey.”

“Why are you here?” Seeing Chris appear, Rachel subconsciously looked around.

She did not find the black Rolls-Royce after looking around. An imperceptible darkness flashed in the depths of her eyes. “Only you?”

Chris nodded. “Mr. Jones has something on and can’t leave for the time being. He specially asked me to come and pick you up.”

“But I…” Rachel glanced at Lucas.

“I’m fine.” Lucas saw through her hesitation and slung his jacket over his shoulder. “I was just here to relieve your boredom. I won’t get involved since there’s someone accompanying you.”

With that, he waved at Rachel and turned to leave.

“Then be careful on the road,” said Rachel.

Lucas did not even turn around. “Got it.”

Rachel followed Chris into the car after she saw Lucas get into his car.

However, she did not know that Lucas was not in a hurry to leave after getting into the car. Instead, he sat quietly in the car and smoked.

The little girl who had been pestering him in the past had grown up in the blink of an eye.

He would spend every year at this time with Rachel, but it seemed like he was no longer needed.

He felt quite upset.

On the other side, Rachel sat in the car and looked at the scenery outside the window. She asked casually, “Where are we going?”

Chris glanced at her through the rearview mirror. “Mr. Jones is at the Entertainment Center.”

Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly.

She thought, “Does this count as telepathy?”

She had originally planned to go with Lucas.

Thirty minutes later, the car stopped at the entrance of the Entertainment Center.

Rachel opened the door and got out of the car. She followed the staff into the facility and went all the way to the shooting range.

The venue was brightly lit. She immediately saw David sitting on the sofa in the resting area.

The man was dressed in a black suit as usual. He crossed his legs elegantly. The light shone on his well-defined face, making his facial features look even more defined.

Rachel looked around and realized that there was no one else here other than them.

As she was in thought, David stood up and walked toward Rachel with his slender legs. He could vaguely smell the beer on her body and frowned slightly. “Have you been drinking?”

Rachel nodded. “Had some beer with Lucas.”
