Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 778

Chapter 778

Explicit images flashed across Rachel’s mind when David spoke in that tone, and her fair face turned as red as a tomato.

She shifted in her seat and muttered softly, “Can you be more serious?”

Did David not say that he had a cold and abstinent temperament? Where did that go to?

Or could it be that intimacy was what all men could think about once they lost their virginity?

“How am I not serious?” David asked.

Rachel opened her mouth but did not say anything in the end. She only picked up her bowl and ate her food in silence.

However, thanks to David’s joke, Rachel perked up and was more energetic than before.

After eating, they sat on the sofa in the living room and watched a movie.

Upon seeing the kissing scene in the movie, they could not resist and turned to kiss each other.

The moment their lips touched, all the desires and longing they harbored in their hearts were released.

David pulled Rachel on his lap, straddling him. He held her waist tightly with one hand and supported her slender neck with the other.

Rachel quickly lost all sense of self within that passionate kiss. Her entire body went limp as she leaned into his arms.

David’s deep voice was hoarse with lust. “Do you care for some moderate exercises?”

Rachel slowly opened her eyes and their gazes coincided without any warning. Within David’s deep, dark eyes, Rachel could only see dominance and authority.

She pursed her lips and placed her hands on his chest. She leaned back unobtrusively and pulled away from him. “I’m not feeling well. I think I’ll pass.”

Memories from the past two days were still fresh in her mind. Rachel’s

legs would turn sore as she recalled them. There was no way she could tolerate any more of that.

She might really collapse if they kept this up!

That was just an excuse Rachel came up with, but David took it seriously. He looked at her solemnly. “Not feeling well?”

He

got up and transferred Rachel onto the sofa as he spoke. Then, he started to examine her limbs.

When he returned to the casino earlier, he overheard people gossiping about someone who was causing trouble.

Without a doubt, that someone was most likely Rachel.

“Here, let me explain.”

David pressed Rachel back on the sofa, burying her head between the cushions.

As he undressed her, a chill swept across Rachel’s body. She could not help but tremble.

“Don’t move!” David said.

It was just two words but spoken in an unyielding tone. There was no room for negotiation.

As Rachel lay on the sofa, she protested, “You, ouch!”

She halted abruptly, and instead, sucked in a breath of air.

David examined the bruise on the side of her waist. He pursed his lips. tightly, and his jawline was tense. His handsome face appeared cold and distant.

His expression grew grimmer by the second, and he spoke coldly in his deep voice, “So, you do feel pain.”

As soon as David said that, he stood up and strode away.

When he came back, he had a first aid kit in his hand. He took a bottle of ointment from the kit and gently applied it to Rachel’s body.

The ointment had a hint of minty coolness. When it touched Rachel, she could feel the pain easing from her waist immediately.

After the ointment dried, David carried Rachel in his arms and walked to

the bedroom.

When their bodies touched, Rachel became impetuous, and she struggled a little. David uttered in his low voice, “Don’t move!”

Rachel felt something pressing against her leg, and she stiffened slightly. She leaned into his arms without moving.

She could smell David’s woody scent lingering around her nose, and soon she drifted off to sleep in David’s arms.

As David listened to Rachel’s light and rhythmic breathing, he lowered

gaze and stared at her restful and obedient sleeping face. Then, he lowered his head and gently planted a kiss on her face.

David continued looking at her without looking away. Finally, he slowly got up, picked up his phone, and walked to the balcony. He called Landon and asked, “Any news from the laboratory?”

On the other end of the line, Landon took off his glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose. “There is another substance under analysis.”

“Speed it up.” David turned around and glanced toward Rachel, who had fallen into a deep sleep. There was a dark glint in his eyes. “Send Ethan. out of the laboratory in a few days.”

Landon was slightly stunned by the request.

Ethan was the core figure of the 101st experimental base. He had not taken a step out of the facility since he entered.

Although that might look like imprisonment, it was the best protection they could offer him.

Landon did not know David’s intentions behind getting Ethan to leave the experimental base. Still, he replied, “Okay.”

It was already nine in the morning when Rachel woke up the next day.

She rolled over under the blanket and subconsciously reached out her hand to feel the space beside her.

Dawn had broken ages ago.

And the person beside her had since woken up and gotten out of bed.

Rachel continued lazing on the bed. Eventually, she lifted the blanket and slowly walked to the bathroom.

Thirty minutes later, she sat in front of the makeup mirror to put on her makeup.

Rachel looked at her reflection in the mirror. She did not feel unwell or fatigued. On the contrary, she felt refreshed. It was as if nothing had happened.

It was a peculiar feeling, but Rachel was unable to get her head around it.

How did Ronnie know about her sudden relapse?

And what did he give her that quickly suppressed the illness?
