Rachel’s eyelashes trembled. She wanted to open her eyes, but no matter how hard she tried, she could not open them. Her consciousness gradually fell into endless darkness.

When she woke up again, she found herself in an unfamiliar environment.

She sat up abruptly and surveyed the surroundings.

“This is not my room!

“Why am I here?” she thought.

At this moment, an unfamiliar woman walked in from outside. When she saw Rachel had woken up, a friendly smile appeared on her face. “Miss Grey, you’re awake.”

“You are…?” Rachel looked at the woman and sized her up.

Hearing her words, the woman’s smile widened. “I’m the maid here. If you don’t mind, you can call me Mrs. Brown.”

As she spoke, she suddenly thought of something. “Miss Grey, please wait a moment. I’ll inform Mr. Jones now.”

Before Rachel could react, she turned around and left the room.

Not long after, footsteps came from the bedroom door.

Rachel could tell that this was not Mrs. Brown’s footsteps.

Her gaze was fixed on the door. She saw David in a black shirt appear at the bedroom door.

Rachel was suddenly stunned. She stared at the tall, straight man in front of her for a long time before gradually returning to her

senses.

It turned out that it was not her imagination when she had vaguely heard David’s voice before she fainted.

“Feeling better?” David walked to Rachel’s side. At the side of the

bed, he placed his palm on her forehead.
