Betrayal At The Altar (Rachel and David) novel Chapter 823

Chapter 823

Vulture and Aileen sat neatly on the sofa like two quail when Rachel rushed to the hotel.

“You two…”

“It was an accident.” Vulture and Aileen said in unison before she could finish her sentence.

A look of uneasiness crossed Aileen’s eyes, and she lowered her eyelids to hide the bitterness.

Meanwhile, Vulture did not notice her emotions. He just kept drooping his head in embarrassment.

Rachel raised her eyebrows slightly with a playful smile in her eyes. “You guys have a tacit understanding right now,” she

said

Vulture and Aileen remained silent.

Perhaps the atmosphere was so weird that Vulture picked up the cigarette case on the table and stood up. “Tm going to have a cigarette. You guys talk.”

After he left, Aileen noticed the marks on Rachel’s neck. Her eyes sparkled with excitement. Little girl, you’re quite wild.” Rachel looked up at her with a complicated expression. “You’re still in the mood to care about me right now?”

Upon hearing that. Aileen’s expression changed slightly. Her eyes flickered slightly as she picked up the water glass and took a sip of water. She rubbed it with her fingertips and pursed her lips with a hint of self-deprecation and bitterness. “We all drank last night. Didn’t he say that it was just an accident? We both are adults and have made things clear.”

“Is everything clear?” Rachel squinted. “Vulture is also willing to treat what happened last night as an accident?”

“Yeah” Aileen pursed her lips and said in a hoarse voice. “As a matter of fact, it’s good to treat it as an accident so that it won’t be awkward when we meet afterward. Besides, we’re both adults. Isn’t it normal to have a one-night stand after getting drunk?”

Aileen took a deep breath but could not suppress the pain in her heart.

All these years, Aileen had concealed her feelings for Vulture perfectly. But why did she lose control last night when she was drunk?

If Aileen was not drunk, she truly couldn’t remember if she took the initiative. She also couldn’t remember how she ended up like this.

If she was drunk, she remembered clearly when Vulture hugged her and muttered, “Rae-Rae, I really like you.”

Her heart seemed to hurt even more at the thought of it.

Aileen slowly closed her eyes, trying to suppress the pain in her heart.

After chatting with Aileen for ten minutes, Rachel was about to head to the office when she received a call from Billy. “Miss Grey, can I ask you for a favor?”

“What happened?” Rachel asked.

Billy braced himself and said, ‘Mr. Jones is in a bad mood. Would you please come over and take a look?”

“Okay,” said Rachel, frowning slightly

Rachel returned to Sandalwood Hills twenty minutes later.

When she entered the house, she instantly noticed the entire villa was filled with frightening low pressure. The servants were anxiously busy with their things and did not dare to breathe loudly.

The moment Billy and Eddie saw Rachel appear, it was as if they had seen a savior descending from the sky. They were so excited that they almost cried. They quickly walked up to her. “Miss Grey, you’re finally here!”

“What’s going on?” Rachel glanced at them indifferently. Then, she searched for the figure of David in the room.

Eddie, who had seen through her actions, quickly said, “Mr. Jones is at the study.”

Rachel nodded and walked toward the study.

Looking at her figure, Eddie couldn’t help but chase after her and say, ‘Miss Grey, there are some things that Mr. Jones doesn’t want to say, not that he’s estranged from you.”

Some time ago, Rachel killed her way from Titia to Seaxas overnight and caused a scene in the hospital because of the estrangement between them.

Actually, it was just a matter of one sentence. But Mr. Jones had a dull personality and refused to say anything.

With Mr. Jones’s personality, he probably wouldn’t say much about this matter.

Rachel frowned imperceptibly and turned to walk toward the study.

The door of the study was tightly shut. Rachel raised her hand and knocked. Seeing no movement inside, she pursed her lips and said, “I’m coming in.”

She paused for a few seconds before slowly pushing open the tightly shut door in front of her.

There was plenty of sunshine at noon. The sunlight passed through the gaps in the leaves and scattered into the study, adding a touch of softness to the dark-decorated study

The man had his back to the door and faced the window. Sunlight poured over him, casting his figure on the floor.

The whole study was too quiet, and there was something eerie about it. It pressed down on one’s heart for no reason, making one feel suffocated.

The eerie pressure came from David.

In Rachel’s impression, David had always been aloof and abstinent. His entire body was filled with aloofness and coldness, like a desecrated immortal that could only be watched from afar.

However, his body was filled with depression at the moment. He was like a lonely soul struggling at the bottom of a cliff that could not see the sun in the middle of the day. One could not sense any vitality, only endless loneliness.

Rachel frowned slightly and stepped forward.
