Chapter 138: Awaited confession (5)

"Your hand," Selene noticed. She turned his hand to see his palm. "It has healed. It wasn’t as serious as I thought," she said, relieved that she no longer had to worry. "It has happened to me once when my body took a while to heal a small cut."

Xavier stared at his hand, confused as to how it had healed when the holy weapon had left the mark. It couldn’t have been his doing.

Selene noticed Xavier did not share her excitement that his hand was now headed. "Did you want your hand to stay bruised? Is it a victory scar?"

Selene once witnessed vampires in the army complain amongst themselves that a scar they got from a victory had healed. Was it the same for Xavier?

"No," Xavier looked away from his hand. "I’m surprised it took so long to heal. It is good it is all better."

Xavier knew it couldn’t be his body healing his wound like normal. The only reasonable answer was that it had something to do with Selene but what? Purebloods never healed from wounds created by holy weapons which was why these weapons needed to be destroyed.

If he asked, Xavier doubted Selene would be able to provide him with an answer since she believed his body naturally healed itself. It could be something she did without realising but it didn’t make sense. Selene’s parents were killed with the holy weapons kept in the palace. It was the only way to kill them.

"Xavier," Selene palmed his face. "You are starting to scare me. Is there more to this bruise? Is there trouble I must know about?"

"Not that I know yet. All that matters is my hand has healed. Would you like me to wash your back?" Xavier said, focusing on what they came for.

It was just a mere thought so he didn’t want to bring it to her attention now. It needed to be tested before he asked Selene if her family had any special healing abilities. No one knew what talent the Harrisons inherited so it could be this very thing they were trying to hide.

It would be dangerous if Selene had a way of healing wounds created by holy weapons since the palace and many others would see her as their solution and try to use her. All purebloods would think of was getting their hands on her blood.

Selene wasn’t convinced there was nothing wrong but she trusted him to tell her before it became a bigger problem in the future. Seeing Xavier so lost in thought, Selene found the perfect them to get payback so she took it upon herself to bite his neck, hearing him groan when she did it.

Selene wasn’t as gentle as Xavier was when he did it.

Blood trickled down from where she pierced him so she pressed her finger against his neck to stop it. If not for the bitter taste his blood would have, she might have licked it.

"Will you focus on me now or at least tell me what troubles you? I want us to always tell the truth to each other," said Selene. She did not want to be surprised by anyone with Xavier’s secrets.

"I think you might have healed my hand but don’t dwell on it. It is just a thought. How wrong of me to be so lost in thought when you are here in my arms," Xavier said, giving Selene all his attention once more. "I didn’t want to concern you and now you are concerned. Let us just enjoy this. Us alone and not disturbed."
