"You need to take a break now, Selene. I admire your willingness to try over and over again but I will stop here for the night," Xavier said as he took his seat beside Selene.
Selene laid on the floor which somehow felt as wonderful as her bed. "I will lay here for a while until I think my back feels better. I’m sure there is more you could do to overpower me but I already see why no one has been able to stop you. How did you learn to be so fast?"
"Getting away from the family meetings my father wanted me to attend was good practice. Practice is what you need, Selene. Every pureblood can be fast, it is up to you to train to be faster. It is expected to keep up with your training and not rely on the mere fact you are a pureblood. You will get there," Xavier said, confident she would.
Selene showed great determination. Some might find this boring and give up, relying on being a pureblood since no one would bother them. The recent attacks showed that was hardly the case.
Xavier raked his fingers through Selene’s hair, trying to fix it so it appeared as it was when she entered.
"I am lucky to not sweat since my hair would not be in the best state for you to touch. Is it bad?" Selene asked, touching the ends of a few strands of hair.
"It is not," Xavier replied, his fingers sliding through her hair. "You look lovely."
"I don’t know if I can believe your words. I have fallen to the floor many times which I have lost count for. You are seeing me not at my greatest know. It is unfair how well you look now as if you were not fighting against me. I don’t like it," Selene said, sitting up.
It meant she didn’t manage to make Xavier exhaust himself even a little.
Xavier laughed. "You want me to look bad now? I’m afraid I might not be able to find a way to give you what you want."
"Your confidence also annoys me now. Where is your shirt?" Selene asked, looking around the room for it. She was ready to go elsewhere. "Did you walk here like this?"
"Oh, right. I forgot you do not want me to distract the maids. They have been working here long before you arrived and saw me like this. They still got their jobs done," Xavier replied.
The maids might stare but not long enough to have Harold or Gertrude realise it. Xavier was certain the maids feared those two more than they feared him.
"You have forgotten what I said. Since your shirt is too big for me, I should discard it and walk back to my room. Would you like that?" Selene asked.
Xavier’s response was a chuckle as he leaned forward to kiss her neck. "Go on," he encouraged her. "I want to see it."
Selene started to unbutton the shirt. He would learn a good lesson today to see how fair she would have everything between them.
Xavier made no attempts to stop Selene so she reached the last button. Thinking he doubted her, Selene stood up to leave but Xavier held her hand.
"Do you believe me now that I would go that far?" Selene asked.
Xavier stood up, still holding her hand. "I never doubted you from the start. I only wanted to see you unbutton it yourself. It was wrong of me."
"You are a cruel man," Selene said but she did not mean it. "I don’t mind you looking like this when you train but not casually walking around the estate. I see this for my eyes only as I will make it so my body is only seen by you."
