"I see. Well, the king has more than one war to concern himself about. I always knew the two of you were going to end up fighting. I honestly thought it would have happened after his marriage to Vivienne. Sorry," Henry apologised since it was wrong to mention that while Selene was around.
Xavier was once again annoyed by someone misunderstanding his past relationship with Vivienne. He chose not to explain once again that Vivienne getting married didn’t affect him and decided to see what Selene was up to.
"I feel like I just made a mistake to set our friendship back a little. What can I do to push it forward?" Henry asked as he followed Xavier.
"Nothing. You have a habit of saying the wrong thing at times and I have accepted it. Where are our wives?" Xavier asked, more interested in Selene’s location than what Henry said. "I am starting to be concerned."
"Concerned?" Henry laughed but then he thought of what Francesca might want to give Selene. "Yes, you should be concerned. I hear them over here."
"You know," Henry continued to say. "If Francesca’s gifts are too much, I can have her stop."
"Then our friendship would be ruined. I don’t mind what your wife sends and while Selene might be shy about it, she does cherish what Francesca gives her. I know what the queen has said regarding anyone who befriends my wife. If the queen troubles your wife, let me know," said Xavier.
Henry laughed since he wouldn’t have to go to Xavier for that. If Vivienne kept poking at Francesca then Henry would get to Vivienne before Xavier. He waited a long time for it. ƒreeωebnovel.ƈom
"I recall a time when you weren’t interested in marriage or speaking to anyone in general. Now look at you. Look at me," Henry said since he wasn’t much different. "Those two stumbled into our lives and changed up our plans. I think they time their entrances."
"Not for Selene," Xavier replied.
In their case, Xavier thought he was the one who made the grand entrance by deciding to show up at Selene’s celebration party for Gabriel. He was the one who stumbled into her life years later.
Hours later after enjoying themselves in the company of Francesca and Henry, Selene and Xavier set off for home before it got too late.
Selene rested her head on Xavier’s shoulder, trying to get some sleep before they returned to the estate.
Xavier kept watch for who they passed by on the way back. The roads were busy with vampires who waited for night to go around the town. He spotted a few humans who appeared in a rush to make it home but so far, there weren’t any threats.
Xavier kept his arm around Selene so she wouldn’t fall. He knew she wanted to go home and look over what the maids had done but he thought it was best she just went straight to bed.
He appreciated Francesca and Henry more since they were able to show Selene a good time, helping her to forget everything that was on her mind and have her enjoy the moment. He welcomed Francesca to visit the estate at any time since he now had to plan how he would get rid of Darius and would be away from Selene for some days.
