"Why do you think I would know about his father liking Selene’s mother? How long do you think I have been in the palace? I am not that much older than you," said Isaac.

"Really?" Xavier replied, surprised.

Isaac closed his eyes, counting to ten so he wouldn’t snap. "Why must you keep doing this to me?"

"Because you make it too easy for me to tease you. You must have heard something about it at one point. Are you certain there was enough proof her family wanted to kill the king or did the evidence sound put together by the court?" Xavier asked again.

"I know as much as the town knows. The court has wrapped up that case and put away everything concerning it. I was never the one who had to question them or deal with their punishment. It would take something new coming up to open that case and see what they found then," Isaac replied.

"I am curious about something," Isaac said, sitting before Xavier. "The five families had to vote on what would happen to her family. That means the Blackthorns had to vote to kill them. Does she know that?" _{fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com}

"I do not know if she does. If she didn’t and she finds out at some point, I wasn’t the one who voted on it. It would have been the elders or my father. Are you concerned she might be angry with me or are you trying to help me avoid an argument?" Xavier wondered.

"Neither. I was simply curious. You are lucky you weren’t involved in it since you are now married to her. It would be too risky for me to get my hands on anything concerning her family, and asking about Darius’s father would get the king’s attention. I’m sorry," Isaac apologised for not being much help.

"Isn’t there someone you could speak to about it? My mother was the one who informed me about this so there must be some truth to it. Someone must know why the king was interested in Lady Harrison.

"I would have to see. You know, your father is the best person to ask about this. Or not," Isaac changed his mind after the look he received. "It still isn’t a good time for you too to talk. Will you be visiting the Blackthorns? Many of them are in town as well as members of the other families."

During his last visit to the palace, Isaac was able to hear that the vote to decide if Darius would stay king was soon upon them. This was an important time for Darius to get others on his side but he was more focused on taking other women to the palace and getting under Xavier’s skin.

"Why should I? They’ll find their way to me and I might kill them when they do. It’s starting to seem like a good idea to move out of town until they figure something out with these attacks," said Xavier.

"A solution might come soon since Darius might no longer be king. What better way for a new king to be praised than to fix what Darius could not? You should prepare yourself to receive some votes even if you are not there and for questions to arise about your wife. Not only the Blackthorns will come to bother her," Isaac informed Xavier.

The others would want to see who stole the chance for the women in their families to marry Xavier.

"I don’t care," Xavier stood up. "They should all find something better to do with their time than bother me. I should get a sword that is blessed."

Isaac worried about this. "Why don’t I hold onto that holy weapon you have? Just so you don’t accidentally end up killing anyone with it. I am thinking about you here."

"No. If you go searching for it behind my back, I will kill you with it," Xavier answered. "It sounds like my wife is home so, be on your best behaviour."
