Betrayed By The Hero, Loved By The Lord novel Chapter 244

Chapter 244: Grave mistake (2)

In the dead of night, when all the servants were busy cleaning the Valor home, Cassandra snuck down to the kitchen to grab a knife.

She had waited for the church to make its move to get rid of all the vampires in town, but it was taking too long. She sent the church her plans to kill Gabriel in hopes that they would come to their senses and join her in killing the vampires.

Whether they came tonight or not did not matter to Cassandra. It was long overdue that Gabriel died.

Now that Gabriel was leading the town guards, Cassandra thought she had every right to kill him so he would be out of the church’s path. Then she could be the lady of this house which was promised to her for all her hard work.

Cassandra stared at the butcher knife, which was all she had at the moment. Once she was done here, Cassandra intended to go to Bryce next.

Bryce knew many of the church’s secrets, yet he kept them from her and allowed her to agree to the plan to become Gabriel’s wife without any protection.

Cassandra slipped the knife into the sleeve of her dress. It didn’t matter if the servants saw her put it there since she would disappear tonight to then later return when the war was over to claim this home.

Cassandra made her way up to the room Gabriel had decided to sleep in. She knew he purposely picked the room to annoy her since it once belonged to Selene.

"Gabriel," she called out to him, knocking on the door.

When Cassandra didn’t get an answer, she opened the door, letting herself in and then closed it behind her.

Gabriel was fast asleep on the bed, wearing the same clothes she last saw him in. There were papers spread out all over the floor and bed.

Before approaching him, Cassandra stopped to pick up one of the papers on the floor. It concerned the church.

’They want to destroy churches?’ Cassandra thought.

Just when she thought vampires couldn’t get any worse, they proved her wrong.

Churches were the one places to feel safe when vampires were doing what they pleased, taking blood from humans who didn’t want to give it away.

Cassandra balled up the paper in her hands. She hated vampires more than anything in this world. She hated even more that the man she laid with was going to help destroy churches.

It was this very evilness which took her parents from her life.

Cassandra carefully pulled the knife out of her sleeve and approached the bed as quietly as she could. She could die whilst trying to rid the town of Gabriel, but Cassandra accepted that fact.

Cassandra aimed the knife where she wanted to stab him. If she could cut off his head, then she would be free from him.

’Die!’ Cassandra yelled in her head, striking the knife down at Gabriel’s neck.

Her eyes widened when his hand reached out to grab her own.

His shocked expression gave away that he wasn’t expecting her to do this, and he was genuinely surprised she came to attack him with a knife. It was simply by chance that he heard a noise and woke up.

Cassandra used Gabriel’s still being surprised to stab him in the neck and dragged the blade across his flesh. She had trained for moments like this, so Cassandra finally felt the long-awaited thrill as she watched Gabriel start to bleed.

Unfortunately, Cassandra’s moment was short-lived as Gabriel pushed her off of him when the shock wore off.

Gabriel pressed his hand against where she had cut him. His body was slow to heal since he wasn’t a pureblood.

Cassandra wasted no time running for the door. She knew the chance of her finishing this here would end in her death.

Perhaps this had been a grave mistake.
