Betrayed By The Hero, Loved By The Lord novel Chapter 254

Chapter 254: Gabriel’s mistake (4)

Gabriel watched as Xavier entered the dungeon and walked to his cell. Gabriel wanted nothing more than to wipe the smile off Xavier’s face and bash his head against the same bars keeping Gabriel in the dungeon.

"I hope this cell is good enough for you. I picked it out myself, so it’s close enough for you to have a word with the princess," Xavier said, briefly glancing at Morgana.

Morgana was finally a lot more quiet now that she realised where she placed herself. It was time to see how long Gabriel would be mouthy before he finally gave up.

"I don’t belong here. I only came to see Selene. If I had harmed you, then you would have a reason to hold me and keep me here in your dungeon, but you do not. The town guards will come looking for me," said Gabriel.

It was going to be strange when they didn’t see him around. First, they would check his home, which didn’t have any servants alive and the scent of blood lingered. Then, if they were smart, they should question Xavier.

"You could have let me be on my way, but instead, you made the big mistake of bringing me here. You put your hands on a town guard," Gabriel said, gripping the cold bars which kept him from harming Xavier.

Morgana covered her ears, but it didn’t help to block out what Gabriel was saying. Gabriel was going to get himself killed, and Morgana only hoped Xavier wouldn’t be in a bad mood to take his anger out on her as well.

Morgana stared at Xavier. His calmness was leading Gabriel on to keep talking. If Gabriel were smart, he would realise the guards in the back were pouring water and there was steam coming from it.

Morgana moved as far away from Gabriel’s cell as she could until her back pressed against the cold wall of her cell. She couldn’t go through having water thrown on her again, and she certainly couldn’t have it be hot water.

"Speak!" Gabriel yelled, frustrated with Xavier’s silence. He needed Xavier to speak so he could know what the plans for bringing him here were. "Say something. If you brought me here to kill me, then say it. Don’t act like a saint now." freёweɓnovel.com

Gabriel wasn’t interested in the games Xavier wanted to play. If he was going to die, then Xavier should get it over with. He already felt like he was dying because of the wound which wasn’t healing.

"Wash him," Xavier ordered the guards.

Gabriel’s gaze flickered to the guards carrying buckets of water. He started to laugh at Xavier’s way of torturing him, but that changed when he noticed the steam coming from the buckets.

It was either hot water or something else hot.

"You bastard," Gabriel muttered as he ran to the back of his cell.

Unfortunately, it wasn’t far enough to get out of reach of where the guards tossed the water.

A loud cry filled the dungeon as Gabriel’s skin burned from the heat of the water. It felt like it just came off the fire.

Morgana still tried to cover her ears to block out as much of Gabriel’s screams as she could. Normally, this wouldn’t bother her, but the fact this could be her punishment as well if Xavier felt like it terrified her.
