"This isn’t somewhere humans would roam. I haven’t seen any around here the two times I have come to see you. Only someone looking for trouble would come here," said Orlork.
"Based on this mark, they got the trouble they were looking for. Between the attacks and what the king does, there is plenty of evil for a demon to appear. If it did attach itself to a human, then the humans are in danger," said Zephyr.
Zephyr wasn’t concerned for vampires since the purebloods who met with demons got along with them, or so the stories say. It would be the humans that the demons target to do their evil deeds.
"This town is filled with enough gullible humans to be manipulated by a demon. I am curious what was offered to tempt the human," Orlork said as demons had a habit of promising gifts.
"It doesn’t matter what it is. This town already has too much trouble with humans and vampires. Demons do not need to be added in. It will only take one demon to make way for other demons to come here. You must find it," Zephyr said, passing on the task to Orlork.
"Why must I find it? I don’t care if demons were to roam the town. I am quite interested in learning more about the underworld and their beliefs that vampires are tied to the underworld. I have better things to do than to hunt down a human," Orlork replied.
Orlork didn’t want war, but he wasn’t here to free humans from their foolish mistakes. If a demon attached itself to a human, it was mostly one who was up to no good.
As fun as it would be for a demon to turn someone who was once pure into a sinner, they would be attracted to the evil ones.
"Besides, Xavier believes the attacks are tied to the church. The first place demons would seek to destroy is the church, since it affects them more than us. It would save us some trouble if they ruin the church," Orlork said, finding all the more reason to stay out of it.
"Haven’t you heard what happened with the church in town?" Zephyr asked, a little surprised Orlork wasn’t aware.
"No. Jasper," Orlork said, turning to Jasper. "Is there something you failed to tell me?"
"Oh! Yes master. It is spreading around that vampires were able to enter the church after your grandson was seen entering it. The church has been destroyed and the priests have fled," Jasper shared.
Jasper pinched himself as punishment for not telling Orlork.
"So, this demon is working fast. I do wonder how it was able to ruin a church. Aren’t you curious too?" Zephyr questioned, trying to get Orlork interested in investigating.
"No. I am more interested in visiting churches now that I can enter. You cannot dismiss me before this and then expect me to look into this mark because you said so. Since you will not be going to the palace, I am heading home," Orlork said, losing interest in his time with Zephyr.
"This may be of great concern to us one day. A human and a demon together are bad, considering the attacks. You might not want to be the one to deal with it, but you could bring it up to the others. Look at the state of the kingdom after ignoring trouble," said Zephyr.
