"Kill him already!" Darius yelled, frustrated by the sight of his guards failing to kill the human."Stop him before he gets near and bring the weapon to me."
Darius pulled his horse away, trying to get further behind his guards.
He had found what he was looking for, but there was something off about how the human moved. If he didn’t have good eyesight, he would have guessed it to be a vampire taking down his guards.
"What is he?" Darius wondered, trying to place what had happened to the human.
This strange sight was a good reason to lock the humans away, as he planned. The others were foolish not to believe in his plans, but the priest fighting his way through the guards was what Darius needed as proof.
Darius got down off his horse, deciding to be the one to deal with the priest. Joining the fight should end all talk that he was a coward.
Darius was never afraid. He simply stood back since a king didn’t need to lift a finger when he had so many guards around him.
"Stop!" Darius yelled, his voice travelling far through the street they stood on. "I will take care of the human."
Phillip smiled when he saw that Darius was going to challenge him. "This is a lovely surprise. You aren’t scared, king?" He addressed Darius in a mocking tone. "I thought you would have run back to your little palace for me to find you."
Darius studied the priest, trying to place what was off about him. The closer she got, the more certain he was that the man before him was not an ordinary human.
"What are you?" Darius asked.
Phillip opened his arms as if inviting Darius in for a hug. "I am the one who will save this town. I am the saviour of my people, and in a moment, I will be king."
Darius laughed at the absurd idea that a human would rule. He was curious if it was something in the water which made humans act so foolishly or if they were born like this.
Darius raked his fingers through his hair. A smile spread across his face as he looked forward to killing the man before him.
It was already a headache to have purebloods after his title, but now there was a human. At this point, everyone needed to die since they desired a throne which did not belong to them.
"I will spare you if you tell me where to tell me where I can find the other weapons and holy water," Darius said, eyeing the weapon in Phillip’s hand.
The dagger was the one thing stopping Darius from attacking as he wanted. One little cut and he would carry the wound forever, or he could die.
"Are there more in the church?" Darius asked.
Phillip looked down at the dagger in his hands. "You are a fool, King Darius. To think I would answer you is exactly why I must kill you. I’ll mount your head on the palace gates or, even better, drain you of your blood like you’ve done to my people."
Darius stepped back, for the first time in his life, wary of a human. He still hadn’t placed what was making the man before him act like a madman.
Darius was about to go back behind his guards when he heard a noise. He looked up to the sky, thinking it was one of the shapeshifters from the palace, only to realise it was the man he wanted dead.
"You can fly, you bastard," Darius said through gritted teeth. This was yet another thing the court and his family were going to mention to say how much more powerful Xavier was.
