"You will need to get cleaned up and have a moment to yourself before dinner so I will retire to my room. I," Selene stopped when Xavier held her hand.
"I don’t need a moment to myself. I was riding around in a carriage alone. Besides, I came with gifts you might want to see. At least try on one so I know they fit," said Xavier.
Selene looked at the boxes the maids were going out to bring in. There weren’t many but the mere fact he had brought gifts for her was enough. "I didn’t know you had so much time for this kind of outing. Are your parents closer than I am thinking?"
"No. They are a bit out of the way just as I like them to be. Stop thinking about them and focus on my gifts," Xavier said, taking a box of shoes from a maid’s hands.
"Can you fly?" Selene accidentally shared her thoughts. "I wasn’t to say that out loud. I have heard stories that some can fly but I have never seen it. Some of us are blessed with talents and I am starting to think you are one of them."
"That would be a big secret. You would need to offer me something in exchange for learning what my talents are. While I am curious about your secrets, I am far more interested in something else at the moment. A simple-"
"I am not curious about it anymore," Selene spoke over Xavier. The best way to avoid being teased by him was to end his games before they got started. "I will need a chair to sit on to try on the shoe."
"That isn’t needed," Xavier said, kneeling before Selene to take off her shoe. "Don’t panic. I won’t lift it too high," he promised and only lifted her dress so it would be out of his way.
Selene lifted her right foot and tried to keep herself balanced so she wouldn’t fall. Xavier kept his word not to lift her dress too high while he put on the shoe.
Selene felt him try to push the shoe on but it wouldn’t fit. "It is too small."
"It is. Well, you’ve certainly ruined this moment," said Xavier. He didn’t bother to force the shoe anymore.
Selene was appalled. "What do you mean that I ruined this moment? You were the one to buy me shoes without asking me how they should be. Even Agnes would have told you."
"Your big feet ruined it. I bought a reasonable size."
"Xavier!" Selene gasped. Why would he call her feet big? "I do not have big feet. You did this on purpose, didn’t you?"
"I did not. It is good to note I should buy you longer dresses to hide your feet. Aha," Xavier laughed when her foot found its way to his hand and pressed down.
"Sorry. That was a mistake," Selene apologised.
In retaliation, Xavier grabbed her foot when she tried to move.
"Let me," Xavier said, going back down to put on the shoe he took off. "Even then you will not have seen all of the estate since you have not come to inspect the owner. I have been waiting." freewebnσvel.cѳm
Selene wiggled her foot out of Xavier’s hold. "I enjoyed it when you were out of the estate. I have nothing more to hear or say so I will go get ready for dinner."
Xavier smiled. "You will not tell me about the wedding plans you have started? I want to be involved.
Selene walked away from Xavier so he could find someone else to find entertainment from. "I have not started therefore I don’t have anything to share. I will see you at dinner."
"The more you run, the more fun it gets for me. You must make note of that," Xavier advised Selene.
Despite Selene wanting to get away from him, Xavier still followed her where she went.
Selene sighed and stopped walking since she wouldn’t be able to escape him. "I suppose this is a good time for us to get to know each other better. I learn a lot about you when we are alone. Like how you do not prefer to be alone as they say. Since I have arrived, you always find a way to be at my side."
"I think you have placed me to be a man who stays in the estate day after day and does not have anyone to speak to. There are people whose company I enjoy whether it be from enjoying our conversation or enjoying seeing them panic. I enjoy your company. Is it not good for our coming marriage?" Xavier asked, seeing it as a plus they got along.
"It is. You have your moments of making me want to pinch you but I do enjoy our conversations," Selene agreed.
