Between Ruin And Resolve My Ex-Husband's Regret novel Chapter 549

Chapter 549 Does Law Mean Nothing To You

After Noah left, Sadie’s rigid frame eased a little. She made her way to the couch and sank into it, lifting her fingers to soothe the pounding sensation in her temple.

Noah again. Always him. He already had Hailey and a pictureperfect householdwhy couldn’t he just stay away? What more could he possibly want?

Still, even in his absence, a strange twitch in her right eyelid wouldn’t stop. A creeping dread settled in her chest, tightening like a knot she couldn’t undo.

Then her mobile lit up with a sudden ring. Tina’s name flashed on the screen.

Pushing down the restless irritation rising inside her, she answered. Hello, Tina. What’s going on?

Tina’s tone carried tension. Ms. Hudson, Daren from Johnson Group reached out again. He said Jarrett requested a sit- down with you.

A meeting at a moment like this? Sadie’s lips curved into a frosty smirk. Clearly, this was all about digging into her abrupt engagement with Nathan. She wasn’t going to waste energy on Jarrett right now.

I won’t see them. Keep coming up with excuses to turn them down. Say I’m tied up for the foreseeable future.

Tina didn’t hesitate. Got it, Ms. Hudson.

Once the call ended, Sadie flung the phone aside.

Jarrett was sharp and merciless, but it was irrelevant. Tomorrow, she’d accompany Nathan to Higgins Manor to meet the family. Their paths would inevitably cross. Whatever needed saying could be saved until then.

Next door, inside the lavish suite, Nathan lay bruised and broken, blood staining his lip. Every limb throbbed, and he winced with each breath, the picture of defeat.

Jack hovered close by, his face unreadable.

Noah strode in with a stern face, the air around him stormy. His stern demeanor suggested he was in a foul mood, likely having suffered a setback outside.

Sensing the tension, Jack instantly froze and stepped aside, arms falling stiffly to his sides. Now was not the time to trigger his boss’s temper.

Noah loomed over Nathan, his eyes full of scorn, as if Nathan were worthless.

Without a word, Noah raised a polished shoe and delivered a brutal kick to Nathan’s side.

A howl escaped Nathan’s throat as he curled tighter in agony.

Noah’s tone was flat and cold. Get him out of my sight.

Jack gave a single nod. Right away, sir.

He bent down and heaved Nathan upright with zero effort, as though lifting a sack.

Nathan hung limp in his grip, too weak to resist.

Out in the corridor, Jack let him go.

As he gazed at Nathan’s battered features, a rare flicker of regret crossed his typically emotionless face.
