Suddenly, she burst into laughter, an unrestrained laugh that it sent shivers down my spine.
I was utterly bewildered. "Ivanna, don't do this!"
She laughed even more sinisterly, making me feel uneasy. I grabbed her and said, "Ivanna, stop laughing. Wake up, don't be like this, listen to me..."
She abruptly shook off my hand and looked at me. "What's wrong? What should I listen to? I... I'm fine, I didn't do anything..."
I stared at her in confusion, not understanding what she was saying.
After a while, I finally processed her last few words.
She didn’t do anything?
I got angry and yelled, "Stop laughing and talk to me properly!"
Seeing my expression, she realized I was genuinely upset. She suppressed her laughter and looked at me.
"I... I didn't do it. The baby is still here. I couldn't bear to do it. Chloe... I couldn't bear it." Her voice grew quieter as she spoke.
Listening to her words, I stared at her dumbfounded before questioning, "Explain. What happened? Did you really not get an abortion? You’re still pregnant?”
She nodded vigorously. "This is my first child, and I couldn't bear to kill it."
After saying this, she pursed her lips, and her eyes immediately turned red.
"When the doctor picked up the instruments, I jumped off the operation bed and ran back."
Hearing her explain, I was stunned for a long time. I shouted angrily, "Ivanna, you scared me! Can't you act rationally? Your actions could have cost lives, do you know that?"
"You should be sorry to yourself." I retorted. "I have to tell you, Ivanna, I don't even know how I drove back. I ran through red lights all the way back. If something had happened, your child would be fine, but I wouldn't. How would you deal with that?"
We both fell silent for a moment. Finally, I sat up. "Ivanna, do you think what you did is right?"
"I'm conflicted. I don't want to use the child as a means of pressure against him." She explained.
"Can you stop being so tangled up? We've both worked so hard, constantly doing your bidding. Can't you understand that? Can you please spare us some peace of mind instead of creating one drama after another?"
This time, I didn't try to comfort her. She wasn't a child anymore and needed to understand the logic behind it. Despite being decisive and efficient at work, why was she so oblivious to her own matters?
"Why do you think you’re using the baby to pressure him? This matters to both of you, not just yourself, Miss." I sternly explained.
"After meeting him, ask him about it. If he clearly states that it's not the right time or that he isn't ready, you can decide what you will do with the baby. There won't be any problem with that. If things come to that point, I would think you should also ditch the man!”

This story would be interesting if there weren't so many garbled paragraphs. Half sentences and missed paragraphs. It's too much, give us a proper story. I'm done reading...
