Although Joel was usually careless, he had a very soft heart and was especially afraid of girls who cried. As long as they cried, he could do nothing.
At this moment Jane was weeping so sadly that Joel did not know how to comfort her. He awkwardly handed her a handkerchief and said, "Please do not cry. If you feel you have been wronged, tell me. I will stand up for you. Do not cry."
Jane shook her head, not wanting to say anything more. She reached for the tissue and wiped carelessly. She did not have time to think about whether the makeup on her face was ruined or not. Coincidentally, her phone rang. She took it out and found that it was a text message from Jeffery.
"Have you eaten yet?" He asked her.
"Look, my brother still cares about you. Sarah and he were in the past. Now that my brother has you, it's impossible for them to be together."
When Joel said this, he did not think in the least of his credibility. He just wanted Jane to stop crying. As for Jeffery and Sarah, he actually could not tell.
Jane, however, didn't have any reaction at all. Tears rolled down from her cheeks.
Joel had a headache. To make her laugh, he even grimaced and told her all the funny things he had heard in his life. Jane finally stopped crying, but her light makeup made her face look like a small tabby cat.
"You really like my brother so much."
Joel stared into her eyes, in which there were some indescribable emotions.
He thought Jane liked Jeffery too much, but she knew of Sarah's existence. So she felt upset, and was even a little grieved at this girl who was a backup.
Jane wiped her tears, took out the makeup removing water and a wet towel from her bag, and wipe her crying makeup. Then she cleaned her face, calmed herself down and replied to Joel: "No, it's just that some people go too far and think they are too much."
She was talking about Susie and Larry. But the reason why she felt wronged was exactly as Joel had said.
Jane stood up, swept the hem of her dress, and said to Joel. "Thank you, Little Mr. Jones. I took a leave to see my room in the afternoon. I have to go now."
"I'll go with you."
Joel jumped down from the roadside. He had been squatting next to Jane, but they jumped together. Suddenly, his legs were so weak that he almost knelt in front of Jane.
Jane broke into laughter with a snigger.
Joel was a little embarrassed, but when he saw her laughed, he scratched the back of his head awkwardly and explained: "Anyway, I am free in the afternoon, so I can drive you there."
Jane looked down at her watch. It was the peak of the afternoon, so the subway must be packed. So Jane didn't refuse Joel, but took his car to see the house he had enquired in the morning.
Joel brought Jane to several houses in a row, but none of them satisfied Jane. It was not until very late had Joel said that he would take Jane home.
Jane's facial expression stiffened.
She remembered that she was still living with Jeffery. She wanted to refuse, but she could not persuade Joel not to let her off the car. In the end, she told him about her the address.
The car stopped outside Jeffery's house. Jane got off the car, turned around and asked. "We're at the door of my home. Aren't you going in?"
