“Lily is dead!”
A hysterical laughter erupted from Natalia Romani’s lips as she saw Lily’s body collapse to the ground. Still triumphantly cheering at her success, she immediately closed the car window and left the scene before anyone could see and identify her.
Across the sky, a sharp ray of lightning ignited the darkness, followed by a deafening thunder. It seemed the heavens were showing their anger at her, but she didn’t care at all.
She cared about no one.
The highway was empty, and it seemed her car was the only one on the road at this hour. Realizing she was the only one driving at this time of night, she stepped on the accelerator and began driving at dangerous full speed.
The rain she had expected soon rammed through the roof of her car. Still, she did not slow down and let the car run its wild course on the spacious highway.
She was happy. so happy that Lily was gone from her life now. Soon, she would have to find Grey and kill him as well to settle the score between them. If she couldn’t have him,
then he’d better be six feet below the ground.
He only had two choices: be with her or die. He had made it clear to her what he was choosing. It was death he wanted, and so he would get it right away.
The thrill of killing Lily still ran through her blood like a drug. She relived in her mind how she aimed the gun at her head and pulled the trigger.
Immeasurable satisfaction filled her chest as she drove.
Now that Lily was dead, she had nothing to fear anymore. No one would take her happiness
again.
From afar, Natalia spotted the red light at the intersection, signaling her to stop. She made the car slow down a bit by pressing on the brake.

A frown crossed her forehead when the car’s speed did not change. She pressed the brake again, but still, nothing happened. The car continued to dash across the road like a
madman.
Fierce fear clutched her heart.
Cursing under her breath, she pressed the brakes over and over again. The car didn’t even budge. Before she could do anything, her Lamborghini sped through the intersection without stopping.
Moments later, the deafening sound of colliding metal shattered the night, followed by a
loud explosion that lit up the dark highway.
Then there was silence…
Natalia Romani slowly opened her eyes. The first thing she saw was the pristine white
ceiling of a hospital room.
She then became aware of the hum of the air–conditioning unit and the soft beep of the
monitor beside her.
Her whole body ached all over. Not just ached, but it felt like every single bone in her body was broken. Even her pounding head was wrapped in a cast. She couldn’t tell how deep the
wound was, but she knew it would leave a permanent scar.
“I’m sorry, Ms. Romani… you survived the car crash, but your twins did not,” the nurse in charge said, delivering the devastating news.
Her eyes widened in fear and shock. She felt her whole world collapse at her feet as she looked down at her deflated belly. The life growing inside her was gone–taken from her too early.
She couldn’t believe the news, perhaps because she didn’t want to believe it.
Her mind went numb.

She stared at the nurse. “You’re lying, right?”

The nurse eyed her with pity in her eyes. “The car accident made you lose your twins,” she explained weakly, but to Natalia, not even a gentle voice could ease the pain and grief of learning that her precious babies were gone.
“N–no! This isn’t happening. Is this some kind of prank? Let me tell you, this is not funny anymore!” she snapped. Her screams filled the hospital room and even reached the
hallways.
“We’re sorry for your loss.”
The truth hurt, and so she refused to accept and acknowledge it.
“No, you’re lying! My twins cannot be dead. I’m alive, so there’s no reason for them to die.” She replied, raising her voice, yet it came out as a barely audible whisper.
“Please calm down… the sutures will reopen if you strain yourself.”
The nurse tried to help her lie down on the bed, but Natalia pushed her away.
“N–no! No! No! This is just a dream. No! Wake me up! Wake me up! This can’t be
happening!” Her hysterical screams filled the room once more.
Tears streamed down her cheeks like an endless waterfall.
“I want to see my children. Please, I’m begging you.” She sobbed, pleading with the nurse while grabbing her arms. “Bring them back to me! They’re not dead! I am their mother! I know they’re still alive!”
The nurse struggled to escape Natalia’s clutches, but she refused to let the woman go.
Without her knowing, the nurse pressed the emergency button, and two male nurses entered through the door to restrain the hysterical patient.
“I’m sorry,” the nurse whispered.
