Billionaire's Pregnant Ex-wife novel Chapter 89

The sound of a body crashing to the floor was followed by screams from onlookers. An angry voice shouted, but I could barely make out the words because they were drowned out by the sound of hard, scurrying footsteps, telling me another group of people had arrived.

Let me go!Zane grumbled to whoever was restraining him from attacking Grey again.

No, I won’t,a voice edged with steel replied. We don’t want our friend to get hurt

further, said a voice I was quite certain did not belong to any of my six brothers nor to the

family bodyguard.

He must have been a friend of my exhusband.

Someone who had fallen on the floor after being punched rose. Without seeing him, I knew

it was Grey.

I don’t want to fight,Grey said in a surprisingly calm manner after being hit hard in the face. I just want to see your sister,he added.

I quietly wished he would just leave.

NoI won’t allow you to see herZane spat, his tone laced with indescribable fury. My sister almost died because of you!

DamnLet me goZane hissed under his breath. Struggling to free himself, he

managed to escape the hands holding him.

Again, I could hear the sound of fists smashing into someone’s jaw, followed by a loud thud as a body dropped to the floor.

Don’t hurt my brother!Luis’s voice thundered across the hallway.

The next thing I knew, the notsoserious commotion had turned into a bloody battle of smashing fists between two groups.

The first group belonged to my six brothers, and the other group consisted of Grey and his

Voices screaming, hard punches, and scurrying footsteps filled the hallway for a while. The brawl outside my hospital room went on and on… Just listening to it was enough to drive

me crazy.

I didn’t die from being shot, but it seemed I would die of exasperation.

The screams in the hallway intensified, as did the sound of smashing fists. I covered my ears, wishing I could block out the sounds, but it didn’t help.

Calm down, Lily,Mom reminded me again, witnessing the alarm on my face.

I took a deep breath, but despite my efforts to regain my composure, I failed. My worry intensified even more. They were all grown men. How I wished they would stop fighting because they were disturbing other patients who desperately needed rest and peace of

mind.

Cradling my now pounding head, a deep frown carved across my forehead as I eyed the door with a deadly glare. If they didn’t stop, I would have to get out and stop them myself. After all, they were all fighting over me.

Don’t ever think about doing it, Lily,Mom said under her breath, as though she could read my thoughts through my expression. Just let them do what they wantThey are all grown men,she reminded me, hoping I wouldn’t interfere.

That’s the problem, I thought to myself with a sense of foreboding. Grown men cause more trouble than children do. If I didn’t stop them, one of them would most likely end up in the

emergency room or, even worse, the morgue.

With a pounding headache that refused to go away, I listened to the sounds of an obvious fight still taking place outside the door.

The fight in the hallway stopped, and I almost thought it was over. However, it was just the calm before the storm because the next thing I knew, the sound of a glass shattering

pierced my ears.

Good Lord!Mom exclaimed, startled, her hands pressing against her chest to restrain her heart from jumping out.

Mom looked desperate, as though she wanted to get out and stop the fight herself but was afraid to leave me alone in case I did something drastic, like following her.

Unable to take it anymore, I got up from the bed and clambered down.

Go back to bed, LilyMom gasped in alarm.

I’m taking care of this matter,I told her.

I will stop them myself.Mom held me still, her face looking rather pale.

I doubt you could stop them on your own. Those stubborn men won’t listen to anyone right now, but I might be able to stop them,I said between gritted teeth. Mom could do nothing as I pulled away from her.

A dangerous scowl marred my forehead as I searched for my slippers, but I couldn’t find any. I couldn’t waste time looking for them, so I marched across the room. The tiled floor was cold beneath my feet, but I barely noticed. My mind was only on one thing: ending the

brawl before someone got seriously injured.

At this point, the pounding in my head seemed to intensify. Without warning, I pulled the door open.

Stop it, everyone!I yelled, but none of them noticed me. They were literally all over the place, trying to beat the hell out of each other.

Watching the scene, I noticed that three of Grey’s best friends were there, exchanging punches with my brothers. Grey himself was on the floor, beside him lay a knockedover flower pot.

I took a deep breath. Surveying the scene with a furious glare, I spotted a child seated at the far end of the hallway, sobbing violently while watching the fight. The sight of the tearful child escalated my anger.

I said stop!I screamed in rage.

The sound of my voice made everyone freeze in their tracks.

Slowly, they all looked at me.

I must have strained myself too much because when my hand went to my bandaged head, I felt a tinge of wetness there.

Terrified, my eyes slowly fell on my hands, and I realized they were stained with blood.

I wasn’t actually terrified of blood, but seeing the amount of blood on my hand was enough

to terrify me.

Color drained from my face, turning me as pale as a ghost.

Before passing out, I saw the terrified looks on the men’s faces, and then darkness finally

enveloped me.

A few hours later, I woke up in a completely silent room. The only sounds I could hear were the faint sound of my own breathing, the hum of the airconditioning unit, and the beeping monitor beside the bed.

Opening my eyes, I found my father standing beside the bed. Although his face didn’t show it, I knew he was worried.

I’m glad you’re awake,he told me.

What happened?I asked in a weak whisper.

Your mother said you passed out after stressing yourself out and the wound on your head

reopened.

The memories returned to me. I was thankful the brawl had ended, but I couldn’t see my brothers inside the room, including Grey’s friends. As if reading my thoughts, he spoke. I temporarily asked the hospital security staff to kick the men out and ban them from

stepping inside the hospital until you’re discharged to avoid trouble.

Relief washed over me.
