Billionaire's Pregnant Ex-wife novel Chapter 90

Chapter 90

Two days later, I was discharged from the hospital. I could only thank God and the doctor for it. Finally, I was going home.

Despite being temporarily banned from the hospital, Grey had the audacity to visit me while I was still confined. Each time he visited, the guards on duty at the entrance had to drag him out, but that didn’t stop him from sitting on a bench outside and waiting for someone kind enough to deliver the flowers and food he brought for me. Each time, the flowers mercilessly landed in the trash while the food filled my nurse’s stomach.

Because of Grey’s presence, I hadn’t been able to see my daughter for days! Those two days felt like an eternity to me. My parents couldn’t bring Isabelle to the hospital because Grey might see her. Although he wouldn’t think that Isabelle might be his daughter, I was still afraid he would spot the little resemblance she shared with him.

Isabelle might have inherited the unique color of my eyes and the Phoenix shape of them, but the rest of her facial features were inherited from Grey. That was one thing I couldn’t help but question God about at times.

Isabelle’s hair was soft, wavy brownthe exact shade of her father’s hair. She even

inherited Grey’s chiseled nose, aristocratic cheeks, and the shape of his lips. Though the resemblance Isabelle and Grey shared could be seen as mild if one weren’t looking closely, a few more years added to her age would reveal the striking resemblance she shared with him. I wouldn’t be able to keep the truth any longer if that time came. No one in my family had brown hair, and it was most likely he wouldn’t believe me if I told him Isabelle was not his daughter. He would certainly demand a DNA test.

My train of thoughts was cut short when the car skidded to a stop in front of the house. Before my father could open the door for me, I was already out of the car.

Be careful,he told me, a bit worried that my wound would reopen again, but I barely

heard him at all as I skittered to the door, where I saw Mom with Isabelle in her arms.

I missed you so much, honey.I took her into my arms with a smile on my lips. Her lips

also curved into a smile, and it melted my heart instantly.

Why don’t you come inside to eat? We’re just about to start breakfast,Mom told me as she entered the door first, and I followed behind her.

I would love to,I replied, aware of the growling in my stomach.

Did I hear someone say breakfast?my father said behind me, then followed us to the

breakfast table where my brothers and Grandma were waiting.

I decided to return to work a few days later. Mom insisted that I stay another day before

going back to La Paraiso Hotel, but she wasn’t able to stop me this morning. A mountain of

paperwork was waiting for me, and I couldn’t let it pile up or I would drown in it. Besides, if I didn’t show up to work today, I wouldn’t be able to sign the release of my employee’s salary. Most of my employees had families of their own, and I understood how important it

was for them to receive their salaries on time.

The car is ready, Miss Lily, the family chauffeur informed me.

I kissed Mom goodbye, then turned to Isabelle and kissed her gently on the temples before

regretfully turning to the car.

As I got inside, I turned to Mom one last time and waved at her before starting the engine to life and speeding through the wide open gates.

I arrived at La Paraiso Hotel earlier than expected. I headed straight to my personal domain -my officeand saw my secretary was already there.

Taking my thronemy swivel chairmy gaze dropped to the pile of papers on top of the table. My secretary informed me of what I needed to do first.

I picked up the documents that needed my signature, and after reviewing them one by one, I began to sign them.

Hours later, I finally tore my gaze away from the paperwork.

Is this all the papers I needed to sign?I raised my head at my secretary inquiringly.

Yes, Miss Lily, she replied, and I handed the already signed documents to her. She knew exactly what to do with them.

With undivided attention, I turned back to my task. I resumed working and didn’t stop until

the mountain of clutter on the table had eased.

Briefly afterward, I took a short coffee break, then returned to my task again. It was past lunchtime when I finally finished everything. My neck tingled, and I gently massaged it with my fingers to ease the strain.

I was still massaging the back of my neck when I received a call from my mom, informing me that something important had come up and she needed to leave the house to attend an important business gathering and couldn’t watch over Isabelle.

Clarissa and Lia were not available. There was still my grandmother Leilani, but she couldn’t look after my daughter the whole day and feed her every four hours. Grandma was

old and needed plenty of rest.

My brotherssix of themwere surprisingly at the house. They had no work today. However, they weren’t a great help. They didn’t even know how to change a diaper, so I

couldn’t leave Isabelle with them.

Mom and I finally agreed to take her to La Paraiso Hotel.

An hour later, my secretary informed me that Mom was waiting at the front desk. Thanking her, I rose from my swivel chair and exited the office. I headed to the elevator and pushed

the button for the ground floor.

I found Mom at the front desk, surrounded by my female receptionists, admiring the baby in her arms. She saw me approaching, and her face brightened.
