After being hospitalized for treatment, Amelia never expected to find herself sharing a ward with Heidi.
Heidi was equally surprised. "What are you doing here?"
Public hospitals rarely provided private rooms unless special circumstances called for them. This place was always packed, and even the VIP floor was fully booked. As a result, the two were unexpectedly assigned to the same ward.
It was an orthopedic ward.
Did Amelia suffer a fracture?
Heidi's eyes swept around the ward before finally settling on the cast on Amelia's ankle.
Amelia was already feeling on edge. Catching the slight mockery in Heidi's gaze, she shot back, "What are you staring at?"
"I'll look if I want to. What's it to you?"
Amelia had always been jealous of Heidi's interactions with Simon, and being looked down upon now only made her angrier.
Recalling that Simon had once mentioned Heidi's feelings for Edward, she decided to twist the knife. "If you're so tough, why don't you take on Janice instead of mocking me? While you're stuck in here, Mr. Moore is out on a late-night date with her!"
"Shut up!" Heidi snapped, seeing Amelia as nothing more than a pathetic fool.
She had already heard about what happened tonight, especially since she had connections within the Moore family.
"Honestly, you're unbelievably stupid for provoking Mr. Robert. You totally deserved that beating!"
"And do you really think you're so superior? Even after revealing you're Shirley, Edward still doesn't favor you. Now that's the real tragedy, isn't it?" Amelia fired back, refusing to back down.
"You—" Unlike Amelia, Heidi knew how to keep her composure. Her anger quickly melted away, replaced by a knowing smile. "Amelia, there's no need to start trouble with me. After all, we have a common enemy, don't we?"
Amelia was stunned. "What are you getting at?"
"Let's team up. I don't believe Janice can handle both of us at the same time!"
"That's easy for you to say. She has Edward looking out for her, and Simon's already having second thoughts. How are we supposed to handle her?" Amelia yelled.
Heidi gritted her teeth. "We don't have to act yet. Let her enjoy her last peaceful New Year's. After that, we'll make our move."
She already had a plan in mind.
Amelia sneered, "And why would I trust you?"
