Edward's dominance was impossible to refuse. He was firm yet never overbearing.
Janice chuckled. "Then how should I repay you?"
"Just stay with me. That's enough."
He took her hand and led her into the car. As they drove toward his place, Janice gazed out the window. More than half a year had passed. She had left her past behind, found new work, and now… she had Edward by her side. It felt like everything in her life had changed.
Suddenly, the partition between the front and back seats lowered.
Before she could react, a hand cupped her cheek, turning her face toward him.
"Kiss me."
Janice stared at him in disbelief. Did Edward really just say that?
She froze for several seconds before finally forcing herself to lean in, pressing a soft kiss against his cheek.
She blinked. "Now, what about you?"
The moment the words left her mouth, she felt a sudden weight press against her—Edward.
His lips crashed onto hers, deep and consuming, leaving her breathless. His movements were intense yet controlled, gentle but overwhelming.
The warmth of his breath against her skin and the way his touch lingered… For a moment, she felt herself slipping, losing control.
When he finally pulled away, Janice had to take a deep breath. Her chest rose and fell as she tried to steady herself. Then, she glared at him.
Right then, they arrived at Edward's villa.
Edward helped unpack her things.
As he was hanging up her clothes, a video call from Barbara popped up on Edward's phone. Janice quickly stepped out of the room.
"What are you doing?" Barbara asked, noticing Edward hanging up clothes.
"Helping Janice put her things away," he replied.
Barbara raised an eyebrow. "Wait… This is your place, isn't it? Are you two living together now?"
Without looking up, Edward answered, "Just cohabiting."
Barbara exchanged a glance with Robert and then lowered her voice. "Are you alone right now?"
