Bride To Be Not Me (Janice and Simon) novel Chapter 284

Sarah's past arrogance and the way she had mistreated people had finally led her to this point.

"Once you're done, make me something to eat," Amelia said, smirking. "Make it good, or I'll deduct the cost of the ingredients from your pay."

Sarah instinctively protested, "The other maids aren't doing anything. Why should I have to cook?"

Zedrick sneered, "A former heiress still has an attitude, huh? Don't you know who your employer is? You're a maid right now. You do what you're told—no questions asked."

A maid nearby muttered, "Exactly."

In the kitchen, Sarah sliced the vegetables with force, imagining she was cutting into Amelia instead. She racked her brain for a solution, and after a moment, Janice popped into her head.

Janice was wealthy now. A few hundred thousand dollars was nothing but pocket change to her. Sarah believed that with some sweet talk, she could charm Janice. Given Janice's soft heart, she was confident that Janice would agree. Besides, she would pay her back anyway.

With her mind made up, Sarah seized an opportunity, slipped into the bathroom, and called Janice. The moment the call connected, she asked in a voice laced with anxiety, "Hello? Janice?"

Janice recognized her voice and hung up immediately without a word. Undeterred, Sarah redialed. "Janice, don't hang up! I need to talk to you."

"And why would I bother talking to you?" Janice asked, her tone flat.

"I'm in trouble," Sarah said, her voice strained. "I desperately need a few hundred thousand dollars. It's nothing to you, right?"

"Please, Janice, help me," she pleaded. "I swear I'll pay you back. Think of it as a favor for when my dad saved Jacob's life, remember?"

A brief silence hung on the line.

"I'll send you the money," Janice said.
