Sarah screamed. Her voice was raw with pain and fury. "Why don't you just drop dead?"
Amelia sneered, "Don't worry. When I die, I'll drag one of your family members with me."
"Why do you hate us so much? Hasn't Simon treated you well? He spent money on you and—"
Amelia interrupted, "If it weren't for your brother, I wouldn't have missed my chance to get treatment. I could've survived with medication, but he cut me off. It's too late now."
Sarah retorted, "You started this with your lies. If you hadn't fooled my brother, he never would've lost Janice. Without all this mess, he'd be the chairman of a major company and riding high. This is all your fault."
Amelia's gaze turned savage as she gripped Sarah's face. "Yeah, I lied to him. But whose fault is it that your brother is a greedy and arrogant fool? A man like that has no right to point fingers. And you—you're just a vicious bitch who picks on people you think are weaker. I'd love to see you try that with Elsie. She'd rip you to shreds in no time with that sharp tongue of hers."
She paused and added, "Pathetic coward."
Amelia stood up. "Get on your knees and start scrubbing my clothes and shoes. If I'm even a little unhappy, I'll shave you bald."
"You wouldn't dare!" Sarah screamed.
Just then, she saw a man walking up the stairs.
Zedrick stood there. He didn't say a word, but his presence alone was enough to snuff out Sarah's bravado.
At that moment, she understood—these people had nothing to lose.
And honestly, the people who returned from abroad were never decent.
…
That evening, Barbara voiced her concern, saying, "Ed, go check on Janice. She's been asleep for hours."
Edward glanced at the time. It was true—Janice had been sleeping since late morning. He walked to the bedroom and gently pushed the door open.
