Janice stared at her crochet desk, which had collapsed on the floor.
She sent Simon a text. Then, she put her desk back in place and continued fixing her crochet design.
After getting home, Simon hadn't checked his phone. He did so deliberately as he was waiting for Janice to call him with her apology.
After all, she had always done that. It was always Janice who apologized and gave in.
"Have you two argued?" asked Helena after noticing that Simon looked displeased.
He tugged at his tie in frustration and replied, "It's nothing."
"Good for you! You should've broken up with her a long time ago. She's like the plague that will only cause trouble for us! Calm down and have some hangover medicine."
"It doesn't matter. She'll call me to apologize soon," Simon announced confidently, as though he was sure Janice would apologize.
"Simon," Helena started. She seized the opportunity and sat down beside him.
With a calculative glint in her eye, she continued, "The truth is that Sarah hasn't been doing well for the past few years. In the future, we'll stay here to help you.
"However, Sarah can't keep staying at your place. It's inappropriate. Why don't you get her a house?"
Simon asked, "Doesn't she have one already?"
"You're a powerful CEO now. It'll be embarrassing on your part if your sister stays in a regular neighborhood. I don't need you to spend any more money. The one you currently have is good enough."
Simon frowned and said, "Janice paid for half of the property."
"Isn't she your girlfriend? What's hers is yours. So what if a woman doesn't have a house? Tell her about this and persuade her to give the house to Sarah.
"It's under your name anyway. You can change it to Sarah's name when you're free. If you need to, you can just pay Janice off," said Helena.
Simon was still stewing in anger. He disliked how Janice had the guts to disobey him. He owned the house and could decide what to do with it. There was no need to ask Janice's permission.
"Mom, I'm not in the mood to consider this."
"Alright, alright. Get some rest, Simon!"
Sarah was surprised when she heard about this. "Simon didn't shut Mom's suggestion down immediately?"
Amelia chuckled and said, "Believe me, Simon is a family man, not to mention how Helena adores you. Simon paid for the house, too. Hasn't Janice paid for her portion using the money Simon gave her?
"At the end of the day, it's still his money. You just have to keep mentioning this. What can Janice do about it?"
"You're right," Sarah responded.
Amelia looked down and sniggered. She wanted to push Janice out of Simon's life.
All of this, including Janice's wealth, should've belonged to her. If not for her childish naivety, how would Janice have gotten the chance to enjoy the past few years? This was just returning things to their original owner.
In the middle of the night, the sound of the door slamming terrified Helena. She ran out and saw Simon striding out, looking livid.
"It's so late. Where are you going?"
"Janice said she wanted to break up with me!" What a rebellious act.
Helena had been drowsy after getting woken up. Upon hearing his words, she immediately perked up. Did Janice want to break up with Simon? That was excellent news!
"Mrs. Fitzgerald, don't get yourself worked up. I'll go with Simon."
"Considering your health, are you able to go out?"
