Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 309

Ines thought Erica made a valid point that she couldn't refute.

"Izzy, it's the same with Ethan. He may be the big boss at work, but at home, he's just your hubby. Soon to be the dad of your two kids. You don't need to fuss about his status." Erica said.

"Mom's right, but I gotta stick up for dad. Even though he seems tough on the outside, he's actually pretty sensitive on the inside. His kindness and gentleness are just more low-key." Ines said. So even if he wasn't into watching TV shows, he was willing to keep Erica company.

Erica gently patted Ines' hand, "Alright, enough of this. If I miss the plot, I'll have to watch the replay online. That'll ruin my viewing pleasure."

Ines found it hard to accept seeing Erica like this. She only realized then that Erica actually enjoyed watching TV, just like most young folks. Ethan brought the meal to the living room soon. As Ines ate, she also watched TV with Erica. When the plot got thrilling, Erica's face suddenly changed, she murmured, "The male lead in this is really charming. If Beasley was here, I'd make him watch this and learn how to treat girls. He's really bad at it."

Ines paused for a while, and so did Ethan. He whispered something to Ines, who winked at him, signaling she knew what to do.

Neither of them responded to Erica, who only mentioned it briefly and was then caught up in the TV show again.

Ethan looked around and didn't see Silvia. He couldn't help asking Erica, "Mom, where did Silvia go?" He had just thought about having a chat with her later, but she was nowhere to be found.

"After you guys went for a walk, she left too. She said she's been slacking off at work too much lately, and her coworkers have been covering her shifts. She said she needs to go in early tomorrow." Erica explained.

"She sure left in a hurry." Ethan sneered.

"Ethan, did that girl upset you? Your tone sounds a bit off." Erica looked at Ethan in confusion, not understanding why the usually gentle Ethan had suddenly changed.

Ethan smiled, "She did upset me a bit. I wanted to talk to her about something, but she ran off so fast."

Since Erica was engrossed in the TV show, she didn't notice Ethan's abnormality and didn't ask any further.

At bedtime, Ethan told Ines about what Jacob had told him earlier. Ines looked at Ethan in surprise, "So, there's someone targeting him, and I just happened to be affected first. Is that what you're saying?"

"Strictly speaking, since you became my wife, you're a part of the Meyer family. If anyone provokes the Meyer family, they naturally include you." Ethan said with a smile.

"That's outrageous! I thought they were targeting me, but I didn't realize there was such a backstory. It seems our company is really attracting attention." Ines said.

Ethan nodded, "Yes, that's the case. You don't need to worry too much about the company. Jacob has arranged for someone to deal with it. I guess you'll get the latest news by next Monday. Such things might happen again in the future, so be prepared."

"No problem. As long as I know where the problem lies, I can handle it. Otherwise, it won't do any good and will only cause panic." Ines said.
