Ines had just finished eating when she saw Silas rush in, his face full of worry. One look at him and Ines knew something bad must have happened, so she couldn't help but ask, "Silas, what's up?"
Silas's voice was a little shaky as he explained, "Izzy, there's some trouble with Emma, she might be giving birth early. She's on her way to the hospital now, and Eda's the only one with her. I'm worried and need to head back immediately."
"What? She's having the baby?" Ines jumped up from her chair. Ethan was startled by her reaction, but kept his cool. He quickly steadied her, saying, "Izzy, chill out. Even if she's giving birth now, it's not a big deal. If I remember correctly, she got pregnant three months earlier than you. If you do the math, she's not far from her due date, so there shouldn't be any major issues."
Hearing Ethan's words, Silas seemed to calm down a bit, saying, "Maybe I'm just overreacting. You're right. Emma's due date was at the end of this month anyway. Giving birth now is just 10 days early, it shouldn't be a problem. But still, I've got to rush over there."
"I'm going too." Ines said, she wanted to see what was happening.
"Alright, let's go together now. Lucas is downstairs, he can drive." Ethan decided without hesitation. They all hurried downstairs and headed for the hospital. When they got there, Emma was still in the delivery room, with only Eda waiting outside. Seeing them, Eda rushed over to steady Ines, expressing her disapproval, "Izzy, you're pregnant too. What are you doing here?"
"I just wanted to check it out. I couldn't rest easy otherwise." Ines explained.
Eda nodded, then helped Ines sit down on a nearby chair. Ines asked, "Eda, what happened? Why is the baby coming early?" Eda replied, "I'm not exactly sure, only Emma knows what really happened. She was going to take a nap after lunch, but not long after, I heard her cry out. When I rushed to her room, I found her sitting on the floor. Seeing this, I immediately had her taken to the hospital. The doctor said the baby was coming early. It's a good thing I was cleaning near her room at the time, otherwise, the consequences don't bear thinking about." Eda still looked a bit scared, her face a little pale.
"There's not going to be any problems, right?" Ines asked.
"Don't worry, it's just childbirth. There shouldn't be any major issues." Eda reassured her, patting her hand. But despite her words, she couldn't help but worry.
Ethan also came over, sitting next to Ines. He held her hand tightly, trying to give her some strength.
Time seemed to crawl by. No one came out for a long time, and Ines started to feel a chill in her heart. Ethan comforted her, "It's okay, Izzy. Childbirth takes time. We just have to wait a bit longer."
Ines nodded, then suddenly remembered that Aiden hadn't been told yet. Regardless of whether he and Emma ended up divorcing, as the father of the child, he deserved to know.
"Eda, have you told Aiden yet?" Ines asked.
Eda shook her head, "I tried to call him once, but there was no answer. Then I got busy and forgot."
