"Now I kind of regret not having the wedding when I first got pregnant. Fitting into a wedding dress is way easier with a small baby bump than after packing on the pounds. If I don’t drop the weight after giving birth, well, then it’s on me. No excuses." Ines said.
Ethan chuckled at Ines' comment, "Don't sweat it, honey. You can just tell people you just had a baby. They'll understand."
"But I can't stand the thought of gaining weight. I've never been fat in my life." Ines grimaced at the thought of getting heavier.
"You're not fat. You're just sporting a baby bump. Once the baby's out, you'll be back to normal." Ethan knew how women could be obsessed with their figures, so he tried to soothe her fears.
"You think I haven't gained much because you see me every day. Jeffery just told me I look like I've been living the good life and have put on weight." Ines said.
Ethan truly didn't think Ines had gained much weight, but he knew better than to argue with a disgruntled woman. So he went along with it, "Weight gain is part of pregnancy, babe. Once the baby's out, you'll probably drop the weight even faster if you're busy taking care of the baby. Plus, the food Camela prepares for you isn't high in calories, so you won't pack on too many pounds."
"But what if I can't lose the weight?" Ines asked.
"Then we'll get fit together. My gramps has tons of workout routines, we can ask him for advice. Plus, you can't starve yourself now. The babies need their nutrition." Ethan said.
"These babies are indeed precious. It's pointless for me to worry about such things. It's so annoying. What did Joy tell you?" Ines asked.
Ines suddenly switched topics, making Ethan chuckle. This pregnant woman was a bit irrational, but he loved her no matter what.
Seeing Ethan silent, Ines nudged him with her elbow, "Are you done with me already? What's with the silence? Are you fed up with me?"
Ethan put on a straight face and quickly responded, "I'm just thinking about how to tell you."
"What are you thinking about? Just tell me what Joy said. You're not making up stories, are you?" Ines said.
"No, I was just laughing so I didn't immediately respond." Ethan quickly explained, fearing her imagination would run wild. She had become more sensitive since getting pregnant.
"What's so funny? I didn't tell a joke." Ines asked, puzzled.
"I just find it funny how you're like a kid sometimes. One moment you're worrying about your weight, the next you're jumping to a completely different topic." Ethan said.
Ines sighed, "You're such a dork. How can you find that funny? When did you become so easily amused? Do I need to give you a heads up before I switch topics?"
"Even on my worst days and even if you're not talking, seeing you makes me content. I think I'm smitten." Ethan said, very seriously.
