Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 352

At the same time, Ethan also received the latest information found by Lucas. "The phone number was used by Silvia when she first came to E Country, but she didn't keep it for long. The surveillance footage at the service center also caught her getting a new SIM card. Even though she disguised herself well, those who know her can still identify her from her silhouette." Lucas handed a stack of hard evidence to Ethan after finishing his sentence.

Ethan flipped through the evidence slowly, his face becoming more and more grim. All the evidence showed that she was the one behind all these problems. Even though he had a hunch, seeing the evidence still brought him great disappointment.

It was now obvious. She couldn't escape this time.

Lucas also felt complicated. Over the years, Ethan had provided significant help to Silvia. He always thought she was a simple girl, but it turned out she could be quite crafty. He wouldn't have believed she was the culprit if he wasn't the one collecting all the evidence.

Even though it was hard for him to accept, to Ethan and other members of the Meyer family, Silvia's actions were extremely disappointing.

Lucas glanced at Ethan cautiously, seeing that he remained silent, he finally asked, "Mr. Meyer, what do you need me to do next?"

Ethan frowned, but didn't answer.

Lucas didn't ask again, but stood aside, patiently waiting for his instructions. After a while, Ethan said, "You don't have to worry about this anymore, I'll handle it myself."

That day, Silvia felt restless, as if something was about to happen.

Due to a patient's unstable condition, she spent the entire morning by the patient's side. By the time she returned to the hospital, it was already five in the afternoon. A nurse told her, "Dr. Caldwell, someone said they were looking for you and is waiting in your office."

"How long has this person been waiting?" Silvia asked.

"Seems like an hour or two. He hasn't come out since he went in." The nurse said. Silvia nodded her head, thinking it was a patient.

But when she saw Ethan sitting on the sofa, she couldn't help but be taken aback. His silhouette looked very upright in the glow of the setting sun. Her heart began to beat uncontrollably, she tried to suppress the feeling and asked, "Ethan, do you need something?"

Ethan didn't answer, but just quietly looked at her. Silvia felt a sudden panic in her heart, sensing that something was off. She quickly went through why he might be here, while smiling and asking, "Ethan, would you like coffee or water?"

Ethan kept his gaze on Silvia, and said, "I didn't come here to drink anything. Do you want me to tell you, or do you want to say it yourself?"

Silvia forced a smile, lowered her head to quickly mask her panic, and responded, "Ethan, I don't understand what you're saying."

"You're testing my patience." Ethan's voice was very low, sounding like he really was running out of patience.

"Do you think I would believe what you said?" Ethan raised an eyebrow. If she was still that innocent person, he might believe her. Her plot was very clever, but it failed because she was too self-righteous.

"Ethan." Silvia bit her lip, looking like she was about to cry.

Ethan was always cold, without much sympathy. All his warmth was given to Ines. Only people and matters related to Ines would get his attention and consideration.

Now, Silvia had thoroughly disappointed him. He naturally wouldn't care about her anymore, so he directly expressed his thoughts, "Do you still not understand where you went wrong? Firstly, although there's money in Leila's phone package, it wasn't recharged regularly by me, but by Lucas a few years ago for convenience. Secondly, Leila's phone wasn't with me, and I didn't take good care of it, so it's been turned off for a long time. Furthermore, after Leila passed away, you called her. Only you would know that her phone was still reachable, and only you had the motive."

Silvia turned pale, Ethan continued, "The point you found was indeed shocking, but you were too hasty and overlooked some details. You only checked that the account still had money, and assumed that I was using it, without calling to confirm the current status of this phone. You probably didn't dare to call again though, afraid of leaving new evidence. You guessed that after I got married, I wouldn't let Ines know I was using this phone, and might even stop caring about it. So, to be safe, you copied Leila's SIM card to ensure the phone was always reachable, so you could better provoke Ines."

Silvia found the situation to be a real mess. If that phone was really in his hands and could make calls, explaining things would be like pulling teeth for Ethan if Lucas wasn't involved.

And Ines, how could she think about all these tiny details when she was pissed off and felt tricked? If she pulled off her plan, it would definitely throw a wrench in their relationship, and might even affect the bun in her oven.

Ethan had learned a thing or two about trickery from her actions. What he should be grateful for was that the trust between him and Ines was stronger than he thought, and Ines wasn't the kind to lose her cool easily.
