Noel burst into laughter, bluntly saying, "I think she just doesn't like you."
Phoebe shot him a glare, "If you're so smart, why don't you hold her?"
Noel backed off instantly, waving his hands in defense. "Better not. She's so soft and tiny. I can't handle that."
Phoebe scoffed, "You're such a wuss, scared of holding a baby."
Hearing their conversation, Ines couldn't help but chuckle.
Ethan took Olivia from Phoebe's arms, "I got this."
Ines knew Ethan was a bit upset, probably because he didn't like his daughter being passed around like a toy.
Aaron had been quiet since he arrived, he congratulated them and then didn't speak anymore, his eyes fixated on the little girl. Ethan seemed to sense something, asking, "Aaron, do you want to hold her?"
Aaron nodded, reaching out his hands then hesitating, "I think I'll sit down and hold her. I'm afraid I might drop her standing up."
Ethan placed Olivia in his arms. This was the first time Aaron held such a small baby, she felt so soft and tiny, as if the slightest force could hurt her. Even seated, he felt a bit awkward, as if his entire body had frozen.
Seeing Aaron like this, Ines couldn't help but advise, "Aaron, don't be so tense. Your left hand is a bit high. You can lower it a bit."
Aaron complied, adjusting his posture slightly. Just then, Bella opened her eyes, starting to look around. Aaron exclaimed excitedly, "Izzy, Bella has opened her eyes!"
At his words, Ashley immediately leaned in, squatting down, one arm naturally draped over Aaron's arm, the other hand poking at the baby's cheek, "It's so strange. She ignores me no matter how I tease her. But she opened her eyes as soon as Aaron held her."
The others also leaned in, noticing that the baby seemed to really like Aaron. They thought she was just going to open her eyes for a moment, but she didn't sleep, and they could even see her mouth twitching, as if she was smiling.
Seeing the baby like this, Aaron was overjoyed, his mind filled with thoughts. He was glad he had turned back in time, not letting his regret get the better of him, or he might not have this adorable baby now.
"I think it's because she likes Aaron," Ashley couldn't help saying.
Hearing this, Noel couldn't help but feel a little jealous, so he decided to give it a try, "Aaron, let me hold her too."
Ethan didn't trust Noel, so he moved a chair over for him to sit. When Noel held Bella, the beautiful scene he had imagined didn't happen. After being handed to him, she yawned lazily, then squinted her eyes. A few seconds later, she completely closed her eyes.
Phoebe mocked, "Bella doesn't like you either."
Noel ruffled his hair, laughing bitterly with some frustration, "She's so young and already knows how to pick her favorites. It's so unfair."
"I'll take her now."
Ethan prepared to take Bella, but Noel was reluctant to let go, continuing to sweet talk to her, "Bella, I'm Noel, your dad's friend. We grew up together.
"Bella, look at me. Whatever you want in the future, I'll buy it for you.
"Bella, good girl, you're the best."
