"Seems like it. I don't really know what's up either. I was asleep and when I woke up, he was acting all weird and groaning in pain. So, I rushed off to find some meds and didn't really get a chance to ask him." Ines said.
Ines' explanation, although a bit sketchy, was reasonable enough. Hearing this, Rita immediately nudged Zander's shoulder, "Hurry up! Go check on Ethan. He works like a damn horse every day, and he needs to keep his health in check. We can't have anything go wrong."
Afterwards, Ethan was slightly taken aback seeing Zander trailing behind Ines. Ines explained, "Uncle Zander knows a thing or two about massage, so I asked him to come up and take a look."
"Much appreciated." Ethan said with a grin.
"No sweat, kid." Zander replied with a warm smile.
Zander massaged Ethan for a while and then sprayed him with some medication before heading downstairs.
Once the bedroom door was closed, Ines couldn't help but burst into laughter at the sight of Ethan lying in bed without daring to move a muscle.
"You cheeky little thing, stop laughing. If I can't get up to take care of the two munchkins tonight, you're in for a rough time." Ethan said.
Taking care of two kids wasn't a walk in the park. It could get pretty chaotic when both of them woke up at the same time.
Ethan was considerate of Ines. Sometimes, when the kids woke up frequently and caused a fuss, as long as they were not crying their heads off, he'd give them some formula and try to get them back to sleep, doing his best not to disturb Ines. She didn’t know about all this.
"What should we do then?" Ines asked.
With a half-smile, Ethan beckoned Ines over, "Come give me another massage, maybe I'll feel better instantly."
Ines chucked a pillow at him, "Just lie there then. If I can't handle it, I'll get Camela to help."
The nursery was on the same floor as their bedroom, and Camela's room was right next door, just for the convenience of looking after the kids.
"Get some sleep." Ines said.
Zander's massage worked perfectly. Ethan's back was cured in a few days.
Another week went by, and Emma and Eda showed up with Jasmine. Emma was back to her pre-pregnancy weight.
"How come you guys are here? It's a long journey. Jasmine must be exhausted." Ines said.
"I wanted to visit you when you were in the hospital, but Jasmine had diarrhea and Eda and I couldn't leave her, so I kept putting it off until now." Emma said.
"When did you get so formal?" Ines took Jasmine from Eda. The little girl was over a month old now. Her skin was no longer red and wrinkled, but smooth and delicate.
Emma held Olivia, who was unusually alert. Her big eyes were wide open with curiosity.
Rita came out of her room and couldn't help but comment, "Genes are a funny thing, aren't they? You four girls all have such similar eyes."
