Ines originally planned to change the clothes of her two kids, but she didn't expect to get some crazy news that got her all riled up and made her forget what she was supposed to be doing.
Seeing Ivy asleep, Ines immediately took her to the room.
As she came downstairs, Erica and Rita were discussing the two kids’ one-month-old party. From their conversation, they had planned to have a big bash at a hotel. Seeing Ines coming down, Erica asked, "Izzy, have you changed the kids' clothes yet?"
Ines shook her head, recalling her recent actions and feeling a bit embarrassed. "No, I didn't change them. Let's wait until tomorrow. I'll wash and sun-dry the clothes. After all, they've been sitting there for so long, and I'm afraid they might breed bacteria."
Erica chuckled. "At least you're not clueless. Your aunt and I were just talking about this issue, but you dashed off too quickly. By the way, we're discussing the one-month party for our little darlings. We're planning to hold it at the Diamond Hotel. Do you have any different ideas? Let me know so I can arrange for people to prepare."
Ines knew the hotel. It was a five-star hotel in the city with quite a high consumption level. They were taking this event too seriously. She recalled what Phillip had said, Beasley was not completely safe yet, which meant the less he was exposed to the public, the better. Having the party at such a big hotel was not a good idea.
And the Meyer family shouldn't be in the public eye too much at the moment, to avoid anyone stirring up trouble.
Ines didn't speak for a while, so Erica asked again, "Izzy, what are you thinking about? Did you hear what I said?"
Ines looked at Erica seriously. "I've thought it over. Ivy and Ollie's one-month party doesn't need to be too flashy. Something simple is fine. I don't plan to have a grand celebration, just a family dinner would be great. The babies are only a month old, so it's not necessary to make such a big fuss. They'll get tired, and it's not safe. It would be too much trouble for you guys."
Erica looked at Ines disapprovingly. "That's not acceptable. According to our tradition, we must celebrate their one month of life properly. These two kids are the great-grandchildren of the Meyer family, so we should celebrate in a grand way. You just rest at home, and I will take care of everything. The Meyer Group has many talented people in this business. We'll have them plan it properly. I want everyone to know that the Meyer family has a new generation of heirs. If you're worried about troubling the babies, that's not a problem at all. We won't let everyone come and disturb them. We'll hold many of the ceremonies here, and only have the banquet in the city. Your aunt and I have already discussed this."
Seeing Erica's insistence, Ines could only look at Rita. Rita wasn't going to help Ines at this time, her idea was the same as Erica's, to throw a grand one-month party for the two kids.
"Even so, I don't want you guys to work too hard. Let's wait till their first birthday to celebrate. If we have it now and then have another one on their first birthday, it would be too much trouble."
"It's okay, it's not about the money. We have to have the one-month party, and the first birthday party will definitely be grander. Besides, we have to wait another 11 months, and I can't wait that long," Erica said dismissively, full of anticipation for the one-month party.
"Huh, Ethan, when did you get back?" Ines walked in from outside.
Ethan turned to look at Ines and said, "I just got back. Where did you go? Are the kids hungry? Ivy was just gnawing on Ollie's fist."
"I just had a chat with Rita. No worries, they're not hungry. I fed them just 15 minutes ago." Ethan looked at the two babies unhappily, lecturing them seriously, "Since you're not hungry, no chewing on your hands, it's unsanitary. Ollie, you're the big brother, you need to set a good example, not just for yourself but also for your sister. If I catch you doing this again, you're in for a scolding."
It was hard to tell whether the two kids understood or not. Ollie clenched his little fists, raising them high above his head as usual, while little Ivy let out a cute yawn, the corners of her mouth curving slightly upwards.
"I'll take that as a yes." Ethan continued to play with the kids, oblivious to the change in Ines' expression. She felt her status was truly threatened. Before, whenever Ethan came home, and she wasn't there, he would look for her immediately. Now, not only was he not looking for her, but he barely glanced her way since she entered the room, his eyes glued to the kids.
Without saying a word, Ines turned around and left the bedroom, heading downstairs to watch TV with everyone else. She had recovered well and was now allowed to watch TV for a few minutes. Rita, who knew Ines well, noticed her unusual behavior and asked in surprise, "Izzy, Ethan's back. Why are you heading downstairs instead?"
