Broken Memories, Intertwined Hearts novel Chapter 417

"Emma, did you guys have a drink?"

"Chill, my sister didn't drink because she's breastfeeding. Phoebe and I had a little, just some low-alcohol drinks."

"So what happened to your sister at the bar?"

Emma shook her head, "I have no idea, Phoebe asked her, but she didn't spill anything."

Ethan frowned slightly, silently watching Ines' back until she disappeared. "You go inside too. I'll be leaving soon," he said to Emma.

Emma glanced at the stormy sky, "Then you better go home early. Looks like it's gonna rain."

Ethan nodded, Emma went inside too.

Seeing Emma come in, Silas asked, "Did Ethan leave?"

Emma shook her head, "He was still there when I came in. He said he'd leave soon, but from the look of him, he's not leaving anytime soon."

Silas waved his hand, "Whatever, he's a hard nut to crack."

Ines went upstairs to check the baby room, the three babies were sound asleep, breathing softly.

Ollie might have been sticking to Ivy because they were twins. He often kept his small hand clenched into a fist on Ivy's neck. Ines gently pried open his hand, but in less than half a minute, he had his hand on Ivy's belly again.

"Izzy, you can get some rest. I'll keep an eye on them, I won't let Ollie bully Ivy." Camela walked in from outside.

"Thanks a bunch."

"It's what I should do." Camela said with a smile.

Ines nodded, bent down to kiss their little faces, a tender smile on her lips. Returning to her bedroom, Ines habitually pushed open the window, only to catch Ethan's gaze looking this way. She didn't know what came over her, but she immediately closed the window and drew the curtains.

Ethan saw Ines' actions and smiled somewhat helplessly. She was acting quite childishly.

Perhaps knowing that Ethan might still be outside, though Ines was beat, she couldn't fall asleep tossing and turning. Just then, the sound of thunder rumbled from outside. She became anxious, her desire to lift the curtain and check on Ethan's departure nagging at her several times.
