Chapter 18 

“How was I supposed to know Elaine would do something so crazy? I have no idea what got into her! Anyway, I’ll give her a call tomorrow and have her come home first Tracy frowned. 

“Guess that’s all we can do.” Shawn nodded. 

Tracy had just gone to Floren Village to find Elaine, and in Shawn’s mind, since Mom had gone to see her personally, Elaine must have cooled off by now and forgiven them. 

Once she got back, he as her older brother–would definitely make sure she cut ties with those guys outside. 

Just as the group seemed to reach a consensus, Harlan walked in, looking a bit out of it 

Tracy noticed his unusual look, worrying that he might be feeling unwell. “Harlan, you okay?” 

Harlan was a bit dazed. On the drive back, all he could think about was what Elaine had said to him–paying back the money and cutting off ties with the Years family. 

And that phone, casually tossed on the ground by Elaine prized possession, just because it was from their mom.

I so happened that at this very moment, Tracy brought up Elaine. 

“I heard from Daisy that you ran into your sister at the hospital. Why didn’t you bring her home? You know, Bianca and I were waiting for her call at the hotel Couldn’t wait anymore so we came back first. Since you saw her, why didn’t you just bring her back with you?” she asked 

Facing Tracy’s barrage of questions, Harlan steadied himself and didn’t mention what Elaine said today. 

The things she said sounded cold. His mom and older brother would not be able to handle it. 

He didn’t know why, but Elaine had changed so much overnight, to the point of cutting ties with them completely. 

A voice in his head started to echo–maybe they really did something wrong- 

“Mom. I’m going upstairs to take a shower. Think I’ll turn in early tonight” With that, he rushed upstairs, not even sparing a glance for his favorite sister, Bianca, let alone his fiancée, Daisy, leaving the three of them in a daze 

Bianca frowned, feeling a bit disappointed. 

Harlan always pampered her the most, and just now, he didn’t even look at her once before heading straight upstairs. 

For someone who’d always been pampered like a princess by her brothers since childhood, Bianca couldn’t help feeling a bit upset about this neglect. 

And she didn’t know why Intuition whispered to her that this matter was nothing but fishy. 

“What’s up with this kid today?” Tracy muttered to herself. 

Daisy chimed in, “Probably just too tired. He’s had a full day of surgeries” 

Nodding in agreement, Tracy said, “Then let him have a good rest 

Clueless about the real reason behind Harlan’s distracted state, Daisy was pleased with herself for tattling and even bragged about it in front of Bianca, feeling like she had achieved something big—these seven golden boys of the Years family would only grow more disdainful towards their real sister. Elaine from now on 

By the next day when Tracy tried to call Elaine, the realized her number had been blocked 

Elaine had been back in Floren Village for two months, and out of spite, Tracy hadn’t called her unce and was completely unaware her number had bern blocked—something that had never happened before.

Chapter 18 

Seeing his mother’s number was blocked, he didn’t need to guess to know all seven brothers, including himself had been blocked. 

Tracy was so mad her 

er head hurt. 

“Throwing a tantrum for so long? If she insists on acting up, let her be! Tracy believed Elaine was just doing this to spite her, including running off with that old guy. 

Blocking our number? Well, she better not regret it! she cursed inwardly. 

“In a few days, she’ll come crawling back to us crying and pleading. Without the Years family, what is she even worth? Would she even be living this cushy life today! 

“She’d still be stuck in some rural village suffering, just a poor country girl Liule did Tracy know that Elaine was completely done with her parents and brothers and would never fawn over or please them like she used to. 

Once she hardened her heart, whatever they did wouldn’t stir any emotions in her, let alone regrets. 

Not only was she not useless, but she was an all–around queen beyond their wildest imaginations–they underestimated her, mistaking a pearl for stone. If anyone were to regret it, it would only be them. 

Meanwhile, Harlan recalled what Elaine had told him last time but hesitated before ultimately deciding not to say anything 

He hoped that Elaine would come to her senses and get back to what she was before. 

At Floren Village, Elaine had no idea the Yeats family was worrying about her. 

The Book Elf, now incarnated as a blue cat, let out a worried meow–an echoing dilemma for Elaine–How would she navigate her path, conquer the seven brothers of the Yeats family, and alter her destined fate? 

Its host was just slacking off on this mission now. But, there was something it needed to remind her of. “Host, according to the plot, you have to return to the Yeats family. Serious deviation could lead to some very bad consequences for you 

“I know” Elaine lazily replied. “But when I go back to the Yeats family is up to me 

She knew she was living in a book, so it wouldn’t be easy to break away from the plot setup. 

On her first day of rebirth, the Book Elf had warned her, and she was already mentally prepared. 

But she could exploit certain loopholes and mess with the general storyline as much as she wanted, instead of strictly following the tasks given by the Book Elf. 

This time around, she wanted to live freely and uninhibitedly, unlike the way she used to cringe and compromise. 

If anyone made her feel uncomfortable, she would repay them tenfold. 

Over the next week. Grace gradually started feeling better and back to her old self.
