Chapter 42 

Niamh went upstairs. 

Billie had been waiting for her. When she saw Niamh’s messy clothes, strangle marks, and handprint on her face, she was mad. 

“He hit you?” Billie was almost holding her breath when she asked that. 

Niamh nodded with a grim expression. When she thought about how Castiel looked like he was going to tear her apart, she…. 

She closed her eyes and recalled the way he looked when he slapped her. Even now, she still felt the burning pain on her cheeks and the suffocation when he tried to strangle her. 

Her shoulder tensed. 

Billie draped a jacket over her and put on another jacket herself. “Let’s go to the hospital.” 

“No need.” Niamh stopped Billie. This was nothing to her. 

Billie said, “This is domestic abuse! We can use this as evidence for the divorce court case.” 

Niamh was silent, and her expression turned tense. After a while, she finally followed Billie into the 

car. 

Domestic abuse… 

Previously, she had never imagined Castiel would be capable of such violence. 

She once prided herself on being happy, believing no one could treat her better than Castiel. But now, in the eyes of those around her, Castiel had become a figure of harshness and cruelty. 

Niamh’s heart ached deeply. After being reborn, she felt a pain she had never experienced before. but now… 

Billie glanced at Niamh, whose face was pale, and asked, “What? Are you having second thoughts? 

Niamh looked back at Billie, her voice trembling as she said, “It’s not second thoughts; it’s disbelief!” 

Even though Castiel had slapped her and choked her, making her feel suffocated, she still couldn’t bring herself to believe it. 

In her view, Castiel’s infidelity was already a world–shattering event, and now it had escalated to domestic violence. 

“You two are from different worlds,” Billie said calmly, as if she had experienced such depths before. “You don’t even know the extent of what he’s capable of.” 

Niamh felt a tightness grip her entire body again. 

“I… I know…” She knew well enough. Castiel’s cruelty was just beginning; there was much more yet 

to come.

“Niamh,” Billie called out to her with concern. 

Before she could respond, Niamh forced a bitter smile and said, “Do you know why he came to see me tonight?” 

“Why?” 

“He wants me to go to the hospital to apologize to Macy. He says that she lost her eyes and legs, so an apology from me is not too much to ask.” 

“Is he a fool?” Billie’s anger flared up again. 

Just an apology? 

He was human too. No one, man or woman, could simply resolve such a situation with just an apology. 

And yet, Castiel actually believed that?
